Yup, I will say BMW does have a little bit too many options to choose from. But one of the biggest reasons why is not all countries allow remote start, so it would be pointless for a large number of people.

Good video. I have a 2024 X7 with iDrive 8.5. I'd never understand why pre-conditioning is done at the same temp and speed it was when you left the car even if there's a huge gap between that set temp and actual interior temp.

Yes, it should work on your vehicle as long as it is a North American vehicle remote start is not available nor legal in Europe or any other other place because of idling laws. If for whatever reason, you did not see it you may just have to go onto his website and purchase it or if you check on your BMW app there is a link there on the last tab where you can go to the connect Drive store and purchase it that way too.

BM view do you have a tip to open my fuel flap ? it wont open ? can you do it with fob ....i saw there is a green tab inside trunk but id rather not take it apart ...but i need gas soon haha

Yes you would have to do it from the inside. Highly recommend bringing that in to get it fixed.

Yes, when you activate this, the vehicle is gonna keep the temperature of 72°, which is gonna be fine for your dog. One of the things you need to switch out for the motion detector inside the car tap on the button two times in order to deactivate that. If you don't do that, the alarm will go off whenever your dog moves around inside

Using the remote to close your windows should be a feature that is already ready to go, you would hold down the unlock button on the key fob and that should lower the windows and lock will roll them back up. I have heard that this depends on where your vehicle is built, its possible for North America BMWs but others may not have it.

I would check to see if you have a service light on the vehicle or if its low on charge or gas. The car has to be perfect in order for it to work. Try doing it through the app to see if it works, and try it with the key, press lock 3x. If still not working you may have to get it checked. And yes checking off the box in the climate control settings is the main thing to do.

If you are in a state or country that allows it, yes you should be able to purchase it through the app or on connecteddrive.com

You would have to check into after market options. I don't know of any personally, but if you do decide to do it, make sure you get a reliable one, a lot of times they are not recommended aftermarket.

Hello. I have purchased the “remote engine start” like you recommended. Thank you very much-I didn’t know I could do that. Everything works fine except off: I like to put my car into “park” when I leave it. When I start the car remotely, come to the car to a running car and get in, the “park” bottom does not come off and the gear stick doesn’t work. To drive the car I have to stop the engine and restart it again. What would you recommend to go around that problem? Thank you.

You should be able to just start the car and drive. If you’re referring to the emergency brake it should just turn off as soon as you begin to drive. You could also try turning off emergency parking by holding the brake and pushing down on the button

@@BeamerView i start car remotely, come later, engine is running, but gas pedal does nor change rpms! Gear not shifting, park button not responding… driving controls are not responding, but the engine is running. I stop the engine, restart and everything is working fine. It is the same scenario all the time.

Welcome lights button may be off in the exterior lighting settings, I'd check there first.

BMW have a regular preconditioning mode where it just blows the fans, this is different from the regular remote engine start feature. I'd confirm you have the actual remote start feature and make sure it's enabled in the climate control settings.

Check exterior lighting settings in the menu make sure it's on first. If you're not seeing it, for some BMWs it's a additional purchase from the connected drive store.

Try going on here and log into your account. Go to my garage then view vehicle profile and see if you can find the connected drive store. There see if remote engine start is available for purchase. Keep in mind not all BMWs have remote engine start. Depends on which one you have, and keep in mind they only introduced it in late 2019 and the last one to get it was as young as 2022.

Don't need to let it idle, but yes you do have to wait till the engine gets to temperature before opening it up.

Takes some time to process through, up to 3 days I believe. As mentioned, make sure the feature is on, if you're having issues I'd contact BMW Assist for more info. Also try updating apps and services.

@@BeamerView thanks for the reply, ive just seen it. I see the remote start option now but it doesnt let me select it for some reason. It shows a warning message after i try to select it, i click ok and still does the same thing over and over lol. Ill contact BMW soon
