Excellent Video. We just got our MC6. having trouble doing a similar procedure for a Thermocouple. Using the TC1 port we can only seam to measure during the document calibration process.

Hi Mike, thanks for buying the MC6, I trust you will find it very useful tool. You can simulate thermocouple via the TC1 connection and make similar automatic calibration like in the video. Also, if it is HART transmitter, you can also trim it with the MC6. To simulate thermocouples, you just need to select the "Port/Function" in Documenting Calibrator to be "TC1: Simulation" and the MC6 will simulate the selected thermocouple type. Excellent guys...Great Job!! Is there a sequence as to should DA Trim be performed first and Sensor Trim next or vice versa...also please explain me the difference between the two... Thanks!!

Hello Rajesh. Thanks for your question and for watching the video. The Sensor Trim and Analog Trim are independent from each others, so it does not matter which one you trim first, as long as you trim them both. Sure in the transmitter the Sensor Trim comes first, but the trim order can be any. It is important to note that even you only use the mA signal in your process, you still need to trim both sections. BeamexCalibration Thanks Heikki for your reply...Congratulations to your team for doing a fabulous job!! with reference to the same I have one more question...the output of my Transmitter is the input of my Flow Computer which computes the corrected flow rate of Natural Gas.So Even after I set the o/p of Transmitter correct by trimming as you explained...there might still be a chance of inaccuracy in the Final Flow recorded by by Flow Computer because of Barrier...So should I check the Calibration of the Entire Loop or if the O/P of my Transmitter is correct I can assume my final reading by Flow Computer is also correct

Hi @@rajeshpatnaik2485, I'd think that anyhow the transmitter should be trimmed to work accurately. Normally a barried should not have effect to the current. Anyhow, you could measure the currnet after the barried and trim transmitter to compensate any error caused by the barrier. Generally, doing a calibration of the whole measurement loop is a good idea. That is pretty common nowadays, so you first calibrate (check) the whole loop with e.g. temperature sensor + transmitter + control system input card. If the whole loop is accurate, then nothing needs to be done. But if there is error in the whole loop, then you need to start checking the individual Instruments to find the one that is causing the loop error. Thanks, Beamex / Heikki

How to determine the input and output terminal of the rtd?

Hi, if you refer to how to determine the RTD input and output terminals in the calibrator in this video (Beamex MC6), the RTD input (measurement) and output (simulation) are using the same terminals, you just select in the menu which functionality you want to use. The one difference is that measurement uses 2, 3 or 4 terminals, while the simulation always uses the two leftmost terminals. This is explained in the user guide. Thanks, Beamex / Heikki

If you don't happen to have the MC5-IS manual, you can find it from our website, or pdf is here: www.beamex.com/app/uploads/2016/10/MC5-IS-User-Guide.pdf On the page 58, it is explained how to do the current "sink", i.e. to use external supply and have the calibrator controlling the current. Hi. I have it sir, thx. Bui if I go to Current Sink, E: DC Current Source/Sink Generate it say that I need external V source. In the manual it is not shown how to connect this external V source that my MC5 need to generate this current. Please help@@BeamexCalibration

​@@perica_jonev If you use the ET module, then the positive side of the external supply voltage is to be connected to the upper (positive) terminal in MC5-IS (the "arrow in" in the manual picture). And then the supply negative to the ET module's lower (negative) terminal. Similarly, you can also use the E module for this. Please note the related warning on page 59, starting as following: "Warnings! To avoid damages to MC5-IS' electronics, first select the correct Quantity and Function/Port. Then connect the circuit including the external supply to MC5-IS. Make sure that you don’t exceed the maximum current allowed by the instrument under test."

In this example, the calibrator simulated an RTD sensor as an input to the temperature transmitter. So the transmitter was calibrated in this video, and the temperature sensor was not calibrated here. Please see some of our other videos on how to calibrate a temperature sensor (using a temperature block). Thanks, Heikki / Beamex
