I re met a field marshal that my dad had bought new in 1947. It had been beautifully restored.. what a delight! Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it!

Just watching this as it reminds me of younger days when the threshing machine came to the farm and the whole setup was powered by a Field Marshall. I noticed the registration number is JVO 441 and it reminded me that my grandfather's car, a 1948 "sit up and beg" Ford Anglia had the number JVO 431

Grandfather drove 1 in the 1950’s the bloke he worked for wouldn’t buy the cartridges so every start was a crank start. Was an exercise in patience getting it started in the colder months.

I have seen a handful of these in America. I was at a steam show last year and saw one. It's very rare here, it seems. Neat tractors

I would have loved to have met the madcap who came up with this idea. Mind you some airplanes also are started with shotgun shells.

I bet once they got those started on the farm let them run all day. Of course, they probably used the crank to start it.

When you see how the front hops about at idle you begin to appreciate the stories how they could be left running on a muddy slope and end up a long way from where they were left originally.

I had a 1953 International Harvester which had a useless aftermarket electric starter. The easiest way to sraty the bloody thing was to tow it around the farmyard. Once started we just kept it running all day! That one was licensed for road use much to the horror of the local town! 😂
