Make this a series and maybe have a topdown view of the map with numbers along the track. like from start to finish 1-100 points on the track and then just count the points for every car so we can get a proper leaderboard at the end. And with more than one lap just add the numbers. 1 lap = 100 points + 56 points of the next lap for example. :)
@GoredonTheDestroyer7 жыл бұрын
Oh, and this is to Alex: IF you do decide to make this a series (which would awesome), don't be afraid to do expertly silly things, like taking a hill-climb SBR4 or Drag Moonhawk around it, along with more sensible things, like a Touring ETK 2400i. The point of this was to make a challenge that was decidedly FailRace, and I think I succeeded, but don't be afraid to put your own spin on it. In fact, I ENCOURAGE it. If you wanna take a silly vehicle around the course, take a silly vehicle along the course, it's all up to you. Sincerely, GoredonTheDestroyer (TankCatapult on the forums), the madman who came up with this.

Ulrich D. And later it started smoking again
@J7Handle7 жыл бұрын
No, that wasn't the radiator smoking later on, that was the exhaust no longer being attached to the vehicle so gas was just leaking straight out of the engine. You could tell it wasn't steam because it was too grey.
@kruleworld7 жыл бұрын
Usually to overheat the car you have to have 100% throttle for long periods (backing off lets it cool a bit). I wonder if BeamNG have coded loss of heat with the hood open/missing? (doubt it). Sorry, just remembering Roadkill (if overheating, remove hood)

The turbo was overheating due to the oil overheating, since basically turbos are cooled by the oil. A supercharger doesn't require oil to cool down.
@unsafevelocities56877 жыл бұрын
How are superchargers cooled? Water? Air?
@0M0rty7 жыл бұрын
There are 2 types of turbo cooling actually, oil cooled or water cooled. All turbos are cooled with oil, but you can have additional water circuit that helps to cool the turbo. Superchargers are usually not cooled per se. They turn at less RPM than turbos, and they are not run by hot exhaust gases, so it's not that needed. Intercooler is what provides cooling to superchargers - it prevents hot air build up. Although I remember seeing some external coolers for superchargers, and in some cases they require an oil feed (majority of superchargers are sealed however and have their own oil circuit).
@unsafevelocities56877 жыл бұрын
Woolgun Personally, I actually knew about water cooled turbos, but I didn't realize superchargers could do without... not that I ever questioned why you don't hear about them overheating. I would have assumed they could compress the air intake enough to overheat though. The vehicles I see superchargers on ('50s and '60s cars) don't have intercoolers so I've never thought about superchargers having them.
@Djhg20007 жыл бұрын
Well I'm hoping a supercharger still gets oil though ;)
@drtracernum206 жыл бұрын
many roots type superchargers have the intercooler right under them going into the intake. doubt all but most.

You didn´t try with the Bolide ? I did the supercar rally challenge in this game with the Bolide and I crashed it several times off the road and it didn´t die. Normally in videogames the sports cars are very weak and fragile, but the Bolide is really strong. Also Roamer can take a lot of punishment, unless it loses it´s wheels. When all the coolant evaporates, the steam goes away.
@ATomatoIsAFruit7 жыл бұрын
Carlos Aponte actually, the steam doesn't go away at any point when the radiator is busted. If anything, it gets more intense, especially with further heat damage on the engine. Perhaps the problem is with the exhausts falling off and doing funny things with the smoke, as the exhaust fumes are coming straight out of the engine.
@EvilMcSheep7 жыл бұрын
no, Carlos Aponte is right, the steam will go away eventually, radiators don't have unlimited coolant.
@Skyhawk19987 жыл бұрын
The game's radiator damage simulation works in a linear manner. If the radiator has just a small leak then it will not make a lot of steam. He probably did not see the effects of the leak until he had banged it up more and caused more damaged. I've tested it with the game's debug apps and that seems to be what happened.

The rear axles are doing their own thing because they are solid axles: one big chunk of metal connecting the two rear wheels, basically. The links to the chassis can be damaged so that the axle sways on bumps, but can otherwise still deliver power.

on the topic of radiators in beam the radiator, depending on how bad the damage is it = how quick the water will escape, this can also depend on radiator size as some hold more water also some radiators have stronger construction then others as well as positioning there are also plenty of other variables such as how the engine is built and how the ecu is tuned to handle things but that gets even more complex

The reason the burnside didn't overheat as fast is because v8's make more power, hence going faster which means more airflow over the engine which has more surface area than a 4cyl and thus more efficient cooling
