Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Ricky Rudd, Rusty Wallace and Dale Jarret were my favorite NASCAR drivers. I watched all of them in the 90’s every weekend when the races were on regular tv. When all we had were 5 channels to watch . But I started slowly stopped watching the races after Earnhardt passed away. It didn’t seem real when Dale died while racing. Watching NASCAR races without Earnhardt wasn’t quite the same.

@@UnfinishedBread it was pretty cool watching him and the other notable drivers I stated above. When I was a kid in the late 80’s and teen in the 90’s my dad would put NASCAR on and we would watch. At first I was bored but I would ask my dad all these questions about the cars and how they would do this or that. And then I got into it when I understood more. Idk NASCAR just isn’t quite the same anymore.

I’ve seen multiple fatal impacts Into safer barrier without a HANS device. Go research the 2015 incident at the rusty or Richard driving experience. That’s just one. The safer barrier doesn’t scrub enough speed to save you. Basilar skull fractures can happen in a 25-30mph deceleration in a millisecond. People are still so ignorant they are spreading Bs. Dale only lost 35-45mph of velocity in the impact. The brain and spinal cord is what fractured his skull. When dales head hit the windshield nearly. His brain is what caught his skull. His spinal cord yanked his 3lb brain into the base of his skull @ 35-45mph. Let someone pop you in the base of the skull at 45mph with a 3lb water balloon. Btw that’s not counting the whip effect. the spinal cord can generate a supersonic snap like a sling or bull whip. A severe basilar skull fracture I’ve seen the spinal cord severed and coiled up in the back in the Cspine region. We’ve also seen a portion of brain pulled threw the channel at the base of the skull. But don’t be mislead by this or nascars ignorance on Basilar skull fractures. The skull fracture was 100% caused by the spinal cord and brain, just like all other O-ring base of skull fractures. The reason the fracture is shaped like a O RING. it’s because the shape of the brain IMPRINTING/busing threw the skull.

Btw they had no safer barrier then it was concrete but either way he was going fast enough. Coupled with they went in and operated on his spine. I think they fused a section which means the spine above and below the repair would be weaker than the titanium. Multiple factors went into this. But safer barrier won’t save you in our modern race cars. They are so rigid even today, for cockpit intrusion. You absolutely will die if you crash without a head seat belt also known as a head and neck restraint or hybrid/Hans.

Dale Was Internally Decapitated Upon Impact. The Force Of The Crash Fractured His C1 & C2 Vertebrae With So Much Force That It Severed His Spinal Cord At The Base Of The Brain, Cutting All Blood Supply To His Heart & Vital Organs. His Chin Also Struck The Steering Wheel Forcing His Mandible (Lower Jaw Bone) Out The Back Side Of His Head. When Kenny Got To The Car, He Saw Blood Spatter In The Cockpit & A Piece Of Bone Sticking Out Behind Dale’s Ear. Even Though Dale Was Killed On Impact, He Wasn't Medically Declared Dead Until He Got To Halifax Medical Center At 5:16PM

As horrible as this day was for racing and fans, it also enforced more safety rules and equipment. I wasn’t watching the race live but first time I saw it, I thought it was a minor crash at least visually.

A race car crash that I think the channel should reenact is the 1955 Le Mans Disaster when a car flew over the barrier separating fans from the track (as there was no catch fence). As it flew through the air, it crushed multiple people and then crashed into a concrete wall that led to an underground stairwell, which led to a tunnel that went underneath the racetrack to the opposite side. The impact was so violent causing the car exploded to pieces and sent debris shooting into the crowd, killing and dismembering many people. The car then erupted into a fireball sending flaming debris flying at other members of the crowd. 84 people were killed in the crash, including the driver who was involved in the crash, Piere Leveigh, a member of the Mercedes team. Wrong, Earnhardt steered left into Sterling Marlin car. His bumper did make contact which caused him to crash into the yellow car. That pushed him into the wall which killed him. Had he used the Hans device, there's a 50% chance he would've survived. He chose not to which ended his life at 49yrs young

Glad you weren't one of the hard nosed stubborn people that said Sterling caused it. Very good analyzing. People took Darryl Waltrip's words as fact when he said Sterling got into him when it was Dale that did it to himself by blocking and coming down. Even his spotter was telling him inside but it was like he wasn't listening.

Thank you very much for this video, this is exactly what I was looking for. It took me about five tries before I got to this one and all the other ones, when you request the Dale Earnhardt accident, it gives you videos with 40 minutes of his life story and then the accident. I know his life story I've been following in my whole freaking life! I don't need to know where he was born and what his first car was and what is Dad did and what he did in his hometown and he drives his race car to the track. I know all that! I simply stated show me the accident. I want to see the accident and this is even better yet, so thank you very much for taking the time to prepare this video and share it with us it's exactly what I've been looking for.

You have to remember, cause I didn’t hear you say it, but it wasn’t really the angle of his car or the impact of the other car. His car went from like 150 mph to a complete stop. Imagine the kinetic energy from going at that rate all only transferring to you and you have no neck restraint. Drive a normal 60 mph then imagine just stopping dead right there even with a seatbelt, now imagine that but almost tripled.

Yeah... Seeing actual footage in surprised how that actually killed him it's it was such a common occurrence in NASCAR. But then again I'm not too much of a big fan I've seen enough.

It killed him mostly because when he made contact with the wall he came in from the front and essentially came to a complete stop. Imagine going 120+ then coming to a complete stop, that kinetic energy has to go somewhere and him not being in a neck restraint and loose made him the perfect target. Think of yourself driving on the interstate going 60 then turning directly into the wall coming to a complete stop with only a seatbelt, now imagine that but almost triple the speed equaling triple the energy.

Bottom line a basilar skull fracture is caused by THE 3lb BRAIN & The spinal cord! Think of jerking a knot threw your ass? Imagine the brain is the knot. The anus is the hole at the base of the skull. We’ve literally seen a segment of brain pulled into the space below the skull. Dales was only a 35-45mph deceleration so I would call it moderate. Always make note. WHERE DID THE CAR IMPACT? Where did the car come to a stop? If the car stops 20’ feet from the impact site you know it lost 98% of its velocity in the hit. For reference. Dales car was still going 150mph sliding around into turn 4. The problem is, Basilar skull fractures happen at relatively slow speeds. Hence why passenger vehicles got airbags mandated. Airbags and head rest in your car. They simply are head and neck restraints. To keep your head from straying too far from the torso. They don’t work anywhere near as well as the physical tether like a hans/hybrid or for multiple impacts like a secondary. High g hit. . A hans will protect you for multiple hits. Being it’s tethered. -- also don’t get too caught up on safer barrier. I’ve seen fatal impacts into safer barrier where the driver didn’t have a HANS device. One was a at one of the Richard or rusty driving experiences in 2015. Always remember the cars only appear safe because the hans. If you banned hans today. You would have fatal crashes by the end of next season.
