15-year-old Brigham Hawkins was rescued by his family after a bear slashed the boy, cutting his face. The bear came through an open door and attacked Brigham from behind. He had just finished a long day of fishing and went to the family's bunk house to watch TV. The rest of the family was still in the cabin about 20-feet away.
While his brother distracted the bear, his dad also was able to help him escape to safety.
Brigham has cuts on his face and arms, but it could have been worse and his mother is grateful.
FOX 10's Kenzie Beach has the story.
The bear attack is not shown in the video.

Bears (like wolves) are opportunistic animals and it might`ve been that that bear was stalking those kids because they`re prey-sized and if he saw that one kid as being disabled, he problably thought that that boy would make a good tapa. BTW your prayers won`t change anything and prayers never have changed anything, and hey didn`t ur "god" also create the bear that attacked him? Be coherent, not irrational.

I was just talking about something like this yesterday. When you move into a forested area in Arizona, the chances of negative encounters with wildlife increases. Those who live in big cities (Phoenix area) might come across a coyote now and again, but the larger animals stay away from the city. Not so in the northern towns (Prescott, Flagstaff, Springerville etc.).

Wonder if it had anything to do with the young man recently been out fishing? Possibly picked up the scent of fish in the cabin??? I had a huge bird feeder in my back yard and that's all it took to bring in a full size bear to take down the feeder that was nailed onto the top of a 6" x 6" green treated post, that was set in the ground.

Some of the dumbest logic I've ever heard. According to the Census Bureau, New York City had a population of 8.8 million people in 2022. We can assume roughly half of those are men, so 4.4 million men. According to the New York City Police Department's own website, the number of "grapes" in NYC in that same year was 1,617. Yes, that's too many; even 1 is too many. But put women in a city full of 4.4 million bears, where they're actually in close proximity to such a large concentration every single day, and see how many of them survive unscathed. (Keep in mind, 4.4 million is more than 13 times the number of black bears in the ENTIRE United States. And yes, proximity has a lot to do with the prevalence of bear attacks; can't get attacked if they're all out in the wilderness, far away from people. The closer they are to people, the more attacks will happen.)

Steven Jackson 66 years old was killed by a black bear in an Arizona campsite at Groom creek area while he was drinking morning coffee. The bear kept mauling him for several minutes and dragged him 100 feet away from his house. The neighbors came to help by throwing stuff at the bear and honking their cars.
