Bear caught on camera racing across Route 58 in Suffolk

There has been another bear sighting in Hampton Roads, and this time, it came close to being deadly. It happened on Route 58 in Suffolk, one of the area's busiest--and deadliest highways. It's just another reason to be more alert and to drive slower on this stretch of road.

It’s the Great Dismal Swamp. What do you expect???? That’s like driving on I-75 through the Everglades in Florida and being shocked seeing bears, alligators and panthers.

Because Suffolk keeps building up in the areas where the bears live instead of fixing up whats already up.

Suffolk isnt building in the swamp. Rt. 17 was moved over because Nature Conservancy bought all of the canal properties and closed the Deep Creek Canal road that many of us used to ride down and stop and fish beside . The Dismal Swamp Hunt Club used to paddle across to hunt on the Swamp for many Years. And told Pop Willis is Rolling Over on this grave im sure.

Maybe its just me, but the truck taking video doesn't even appear to slow or try to avoid little cub. No don't cause an accident, but a little avoidance wouldn't hurt.

It is Sad that No One is Listening or Careing. Why is there so much Water Standing around. Never before places Flooded . What happens when the InterCoastal Boat traffic Stops conming this way. George Washington dug and set up these ditches, interior ditch, west ditch, railroad ditch .... None of this Land we are now using would even be here for us to start with if not for pioneers like him.
