Love the simple setup.

The only big complication it introduces is when it's time to shed a layer.

@@406MountainBoys it’s a small nuisance for the versatility and safety it provides! Thanks again

I've always wanted to go to Montana, really beautiful state.

I always have my binos on my chest which get in the way of my wearing my gun on my chest. Where do you put your binos?

Side pouch of my pack. While on the subject I have a love-hate relationship with my current hunting pack, the Slumberjack Hone.

FHF Gear makes a bear spray holster that would work well. I use it on my Hill People Gear chest rig.
@406MountainBoys3 жыл бұрын
haven't seen that one, I'll have to check it out.

People will make comments. If what you’ve put together works for you, go with it! Listen to suggestions and try them if they make sense. Otherwise discard and don’t let them get to ya. Stay safe out there! Oh yeah, good job thinking outside the box and coming up with a solution that works for you. 👍

still using this setup two or three years later now. the biggest drawback I've found is managing my layers when I get too hot or too cold.

posted an update video, changed things up just tad last fall.

I appreciate you putting out your two reviews of your chest rig. I’m considering your version, a Hill People Gear version (they have a lot), and some others. Thanks!

A friend at work uses the Hill People Gear version and he seems to like it. I thought about that one but didn't want to go the zippered pouch route (if we're thinking about the same one). Knowing me I'd try to fill it up with a bunch of other crap too and get away from why I needed it in the first place. Thanks for the comment!

What about your binos?
@406MountainBoys Жыл бұрын
I don't like keeping them around my neck or in a chest harness. Little 8x40s live in a thigh pocket or the side pocket of my pack.

Are able to wear binoculars harness with the chest rig?
@406MountainBoys3 жыл бұрын
Not with this setup. There was another comment a while back that talked about another rig that did both.
@richardthomas66023 жыл бұрын
Better solution would be to carry your rifle like the millitary does during CQB. First shot is quicker than drawing from a chest rig, more accurate and much more lethal.
@406MountainBoys3 жыл бұрын
if that's a better solution for you, cool. For me, the chest harness is where I've settled on having both my sidearm and my bear spray.

How about a cross draw holster ? That won't interfere with your rifle or backpack. I don't trust bear spray, to many variables, time wasted,wind,etc. Good video thanks 🪖🇺🇸👍✝️

Rigs ok add a fix blade left of spray ( both hands ) . get a bear gun, 9 may not be enough. 1000 lbs. ( medium ) at 40 mph from 40 feet, is 10 seconds.
@406MountainBoys3 жыл бұрын
At 40mph that's almost 60 feet per second. A griz tops out at about 35MPH, which is just over 50fps. Even if you see a bear at 100yds that's 3 seconds to react and (more likely) you startle the bear a lot closer than that. What good will a fixed blade do on the rig other than look neat? I agree a 9 may be a little light but with 147gr hard cast it's no slouch either and will have about the same punch as my snub 357. I discussed the 9 vs 10mm in my first video.

@@406MountainBoys Automatic means it has a slide and a lot of moving parts. Simple dirt or moisture can muck it up " yes it did it in front of me" A 1000 pound bear moving at top speed can and will run into you so when a small round bounces off it's skull hope you got clean underwear.
