Some people have used the original diesel 199 for bear in other series but it's all right to have a custom of him. The Thomas characters that were only featured in the railway series (and sort of became wooden trains) that I like are Neil, Sodor railway repair, Frank, Jock (mainly an ertl train), Ivo Hugh, Catherine, Culdee, Wilbert, diesel 199, bear (original 1999 version of diesel 199 as him) and big city engine, (but also Rex Bert and Mike even though they’re now part of the show but probably counting ones that never appeared in the classic series and Rex would mainly be a take n play train). Also out of all the custom Thomas trains that you have, I mainly like the ones for Rex, Jock, Bear and Yong Bao.

I doubt BoCo would have anything to do with Bear not being in the tv series, that’s like saying Duke never appeared again because his personality was too similar to Skarloey. Besides they can have two kind diesels.

Something funny with my bear custom is I had to use my learning curve D10 cos I had snapped off pinchy when I was a little kid. I had to cut the face off of my tomy TWR D10 face so I could have a D10 with a claw and a classic face. So I just used air dry clay on my learning curve D10 to make the iconic hymek shape. I’m gonna use the Phillip face like Ryatron12 did

for me Bear always made no sense to me as he starts off painted in British rail garter blue (1967-1982) but is then repainted into British rail late crest green (1957-1966) I know thats just a nitpick but if I ever introduced him in any type of series I´d just keep him blue

This bear is the wrong shape entirely! He appears to be a Class 23 Baby Deltic and not a Class 35 Hymek. Bear is the latter. I don't know why, it bugs me to the sun and back

Can you modify Bear’s model to resemble a Class 35 which he’s based off of? To do that, you’d probably need to use a BoCo or Daisy model to do so.

If I ever got that 199 model I'd add 2 mini blocks of wood and glue them on the Windows and then just paint them after and sand them down if there not quite right or something like that

I think the reason why Boco was removed from Thomas and Friends is because they didn't want kids getting boco confused with Daisy and kids light called Boco Daisy and kids might call Daisy Boco

I was originally going to introduce bear into my series 😀 but sadly it was too expensive to order a plarail freight train and the face was originally going to be from a thumper but I thought why not use the hector face series 1 actually has Daisy and Boco with ingrained faces and bear has an ingrained face so after some of those episodes with Daisy and Boco I decided to take Daisy and Boco out of the series for a while I will reintroduce Daisy and Boco with gray faces however I'm having some difficulties trying to get bears face off it's ingrained and my original plan was to keep the ingrained faces but I wanted Daisy and Boco to fit in with the other engines but for some reason their faces are stuck so yeah Daisy and Boco will be out of my series for a while

Can I give you ideas for video when I have the time some may show up at random I have an idea for one call a bear trouble. Bear came to the railway to take care of henry work because henry has a major crash a call back to jbs and bear came do do his work but James think bear is friends with the trucks because he doesn't bump the trucks for be rude to them but as thomas try to it away the trucks hold him back and the chain snap bear took the trucks in the end james gets into trouble by crash onto some cargo that fallen on the track James hit it and is about to fall when bear show up he ask the trucks nicely to hold back until help comes and it work James now trust bear when henry can back bear was sad and had to leave but the fat controller said he could stay this makes him super happy. The end

I am so disappointed with the way Ertl made bear was just awful I mean come on couldn't they have bothered to release a new version of bear painted green and Hornby did a poor job when making bear why do they never really on new version of bear painted green Hornby and Ertl did not make more miniature engines they never made Bert rex and Mike

Daisy wouldn't be a bad model for a Bear custom but I think Daisy toys are much harder to find and more expensive on eBay than an old beat-up version of D199. It all depends on what the person doing the custom is comfortable with.

To differentiate Bear from BoCo, I interpret Bear as more naive and excitable and this sometimes gets him into trouble. But he would never harm any of his friends on purpose.

I still don’t understand why Super Rescue wasn’t part of either Season 2, 3, or 4. They could’ve reused Class 40’s model for 199 so they would only need a Bear model

Very nice custom! I honestly think Bear definitely has potential for character building, his growling and outburst at D199 DOES suggest he might have a bad temper, but still has the best intentions at heart, but that's just my interpretation of it. Like you said, him appearing in the T.V. Series seems like a long-shot, but who knows? crazier things have happened! Well done! I look forward to seeing how you'll use him in your series!
