Alrighty here, let me ramble about some missed Thomases and mistakes: 1. The first live show Thomas was in 1991 with Shining Time Station Live!, which used a Thomas made out of a jeep (repurposed from Star Wars I believe) 2. The first theme park actually opened up in 1999 at Fuji Q highland in Japan with their version of Thomas land 3. The only reason The Green Bay Thomas (who we as a fandom have dubbed Bongo) was retired was due to the dummy units (the shell Thomases) being finished in October of 2001, just to keep a sense of consistency 4. A few of The All Aboard Live tour show props have been moved (James, Percy, Annie/Clarabel) to a recycling plant, and unfortunately Thomas himself was scrapped around 2017-ish 5. Not sure how you missed this one, In 2008 Thomas Land UK opened its doors, being The largest Thomas land at the time 6. Not exactly sure how you saw Henry at strasburg, you most likely met either Rusty or Mavis Overall great video, nice to see somebody do a deep dive into Thomas for once

The Big Live/All Aboard Live Tours will forever be one of my favorite pieces of live stage media. Just the large scale of the animatronic props and the sets look so stunning, and it’s a shame that the live shows were discontinued in favor for Thomas Saves the Day. Also I’m quite surprised Drayton Manor wasn’t featured in this, as that theme park is home to the remainder of the model props from the original TV series.

I also went to see the 2007 and 2009 Thomas shows and loved seeing the other characters who weren't at Day out with Thomas in person. Then in 2022 I went back to DowT and had a blast seeing the new Thomas and getting to see Percy for the first time. It was also nice to see how many kid and adult fans were attending the event. The adult Thomas fanbase is honestly such a cool group of people that keep the legacy of the series alive. They are so knowledgable about the entire Thomas franchise and so creative too when it comes to telling original Thomas stories and even making replicas of the props used in the show. Some of them have even been able to recover some of the screen used props which is always awesome to see!

Hey Disney Dan, I’m not only a huge Disney fan but I’m am also very knowledgeable on the history of trains and railroads, and to help you out on what Thomas is based on, here’s a brief history of Thomas Real Life Bases. Thomas is based on a LB&SCR (which you already know the words in short), AKA The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway E2 Class 0-6-0 Tank Engine. Only 10 of these locomotives were built between 1913 and 1916 during World War 1 and replaced the much older LB&SCR E1 0-6-0 Tank Engines. They were mainly used for switching (In British Railway Terms, Shunting), but they were also experimented by pulling passenger and freight trains. Unfortunately due to their insufficient Coal Capacity it failed, hence why they were mainly used for shunting. They continued service for the LB&SCR, then later the Southern Railway, and finally British Railway’s, until all of them were withdrawn from service between 1961 and 1963, and were replaced by the British Rail Class 07 Diesel Switcher locomotives in 1962. Sadly non of them are preserved and were all scrapped by 1963. But at least we have many replicas of Thomas from steam powered to dummy engines as part of many day out with Thomas events from around the world and that keeps the legacy of Thomas alive. I hope this helps you out and thanks for checking out my comment!!! - Carolina Railfan Productions

19:18 Hey American friends and Dan if you see this, I just wanted to provide some information to help give you an idea of what Butlins is. Butlins are little holiday resorts which are placed in seaside towns (there are other holiday resorts but that's another story for another) so when it comes to our breaks (Summer / Christmas / Easters / Half Terms) instead of going to another country in Europe (which people also do by catching a train to France or plane else where) they go to one of these I've been to one in Bognor and Cambersands when I was little, they have a mixture of original entertainment and licensed costumed characters that get swapped out and in, they also have two mascot bears (please do a costume evolution Dan) called Billy and Bonnie Bear in this sense it's probably similar to Great Wolf Lodge. I've rambled a lot but if anyone has any questions I can try answer them as best I can

This video is a HUGE nostalgia blast, I ADORED Thomas when I was little, one of my favorite shows alongside Bob The Builder [still angry at Mattel for that horrible CGI reboot], VeggieTales, and Scooby Doo! The circus themed Thomas show is very strange. Though I'm more neutral on clowns, as I actually like Ronald Mcdonald and Jack from Jack In The Box [though I prefer Jack's 1970s incarnation]. I've done a deep dive on Worthpoint and have discovered some pretty interesting Jack In The Box stuff from the 1970s, such as company folders [including a Time Magazine parody], a company poster from 1978 [that has some pretty neat information], and a ton of the Sooper Scooper company magazines, with interesting pictures of the walkarounds. Notably ones where Jack is with Mickey Mouse! Very impressive given that Jack In The Box even to this day is still a smaller chain then Mcdonald's. Another interesting Disney/Jack In The Box tie is that Paul Winchell, original voice of Tigger, did the voices of Jack and The Jack In The Box Bunch in 1970s commercials [only three of which are on KZbin] and 1970s comics [also on KZbin]. It's most noticeable with Jack and Onion Ring Thing.

Because they were stop motion puppets. They had lots of puppetry aspects. The face is what makes it a puppet over a model train. They give it emotion. It tells a story.

The footage at 8:35 is from Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. I grew up going to the Village, but have never gone to A Day Out With Thomas. I want to take my son one day, though. He's obsessed with Thomas, and trains in general.
