Wow, you guys are kayaking too! It’s been a year of fun firsts. And a shocking first too with the bear. Glad no one was out to see the bear face to face though.

Weird name but beautiful place. Really love the tour. As usual your info is on point and the visuals match perfectly! Love a good cliff jump! Bear 🐻 warning! So cool! Great work!

You definitely got in depth with the whole process. Something I definitely appreciate. The woods surrounding the campgrounds are gorgeous. Great tip about the bears. Not something you want to wake up to. I'm all about kayaking. The park is rather well kept. Nothing like a good hike! Beer please! Love this video.

Your spot on the site looks lovely, I don’t blame you for driving to the garbage bins, I wouldn’t want to risk meeting a hungry bear either🐻 So glad that you were all safely inside when one did show up at night! Kayaking looked beautiful, love your inflatable kayaks too.
@TheAverageTourist2 жыл бұрын
Yes I was so glad we were inside but so sad to not get a good shot of the bear 🤣🤣 it was a beautiful park and we love our kayaks. So easy to take with us.

great video. we're heading up to Grundy on the 15th for a week. looking forward to it. wife is a little nervous about all the bear sitings. I figure as long as you keep your campsite clean and put your food and garbage away should be fine. looking forward to your next video.
@TheAverageTourist2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes I was nervous too, and we think the bear was only in our area because our neighbours in tents didn't put their garbage away. We kept our site very clean just to be on the safe side.
@leanatrulsen4 ай бұрын
I love Grundy, one of my favourite parks. We've seen many bears, one was right behind my head in the tent at night when backcountry camping on one of the islands (site B9) 😅 they're mostly harmless though. I would say that the bear visited you because the tote was left out, the best way to prevent visits is to have literally everything stored away in your vehicle. Bears are not only attracted to smells but also to items that look like they might have goodies inside 😉
@TheAverageTourist4 ай бұрын
Yes, we've definitely learned from that experience!! Although it was just firewood, now we know they are attracted to containers that could potentially have food. Our neighbours site did have food and other things out, so I think it was just passing through and decided to check it out 🤦♀️

Few things also to note: You could have got a sticker at French River Provincial Park, which has a day use museum and a walkable snowmobile bridge over the French River. Also, the French River Trading Post. And you can stay at Trestle Brewing with Harvest Hosts. Overall, love your videos. Similar to Camping with The Coles :)
@TheAverageTourist Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much!! Good to know about French River. We haven't been there yet, so thanks for the tip! We have a Harvest Host membership, so I'll have to check it out for one of our free weekends. Happy camping 😊

I would have been so so scared of BEARS there! How do people use the bathroom/showers by themselves? That's also scary lol Glad there were a lot of activities to do though and it sounds like this was your favorite so that's even better!

Haha I WAS so scared about the bears when we were planning to go... then when we got there I was so disappointed I didn't see one then we HAD one on our site and didn't evenget a good shot 🤣🤣

As much as I have plenty of respect for black bears, I strongly believe that "campsite bears" are really harmless, they're only after people's food, NOT the people...

Just need to comment about your comment about the dump station and being blocked by people getting water. Most people dumping are before 2pm and people getting water is after 2pm.

Yes good to point out. Thinking of any early bird arrivals... they may hit the later crowd who leave closer to 2pm.

I spent several days camping in Grundy Lake Park, campsite #318, June 27-30, 2022 and we saw a bear on our campsite every day, or even 2 times per day. I just posted a blog and video about this memorable event. I bet it was the same bear!
