Those floating recovery lines from NRS are a game-changer! The ability to stay tethered to your canoe while floating back a ways and make your way to shore, then retrieve the canoe is vastly superior to the primitive method of hanging onto the gunnels for dear life, risking getting smashed up or even pinned, and trying to drag a canoe full of water into an eddy! (Don't ask me how I know.)

I have a small plaque in my desk that I received back in 1987, for taking the most swims that year. It has a Canadian 1987 dollar coin glued on it. Taking swims is part of the learning process and everyone does it if they are striving to get better at paddling whitewater in a canoe. Well done!
