It’s Mother’s Day. I find myself here every single year on all the hardest days. I snuck away just to hear it alone and take it in.

There really is something special about this performance. When they all come in towards the end and the synchronisation is top, you can see them smile because they know something magical is happening . There truly is something beautiful about a few of guys with some instruments who can create something like that.

I lost my father, a few months ago, and I love this song, it just gives me so much comfort, it breaks me down and builds me back up because I know dad would want me to move on, take care of my siblings, my mother and just be the best version of myself. So thank you so much for this song, it’s gift to so many people including myself.

The fact that the accoustic sounds so close to the original is testimony to the fact of how natural their voices and sounds are...

Music can be such an essential part of grief. Not only in the songs we hear about loss but also for those that write the songs. From the time he lost his mother, this song was being written in him because he navigated through grief as he grew up. What a beautiful way that his talent, creativity, and reflection formed in him through the years until he was at a place to get these words out in this way.

ABOVE THE CLOUDS OF POMPEII - Lyrics We built our home out on the slopes Pompeii beneath, she lay above How she haunted our home How she haunted our home You were a god in my eyes Above the clouds, above the skies You were a god in my eyes You were a god You took me walking through the town Showed me the statues underground Said just don't they look in peace Sometimes I wish that was me I was the son you always had Tugging at your coat when you were sad I was the son you always had I was the son you always had Don't cry Hold your head up high She would want you to She would want you to Just don't cry Hold your head up high She would want you to She would want you to You said stay in the car and wait There's just some things I have to say Don't you know I miss her, too I miss her just as much as you So my father and my son As you end what she's begun You'll lie patient by her side With roses red come lilies white I was too young to understand The flowers slipping from your hands I was too young to understand I was too young to understand I was too young to understand The flowers sleeping in her hands I was too young to understand I was too young to understand Don't cry Hold your head up high She would want you to She would want you to Please, just don't cry Hold your head up high She would want you to She would want you to And just don't cry Hold your head up high She would want you to She would want you to Please, just don't cry Hold your head up high She would want you to She would want you to

I originally heard this song on a portion of the High Line in NYC where a young man was preforming a cover of it on his guitar. I started to tear up listening to it, and the lyrics stuck with me and I was able to look up the song when I got home. It's simply beautiful. The original and the acoustic versions are both amazing. My father is ill, and I often panic over what will happen if he passes. He tells me that I will carry on and be happy and that he'll still love me. This song serves as a reminder to me of this, and even though I've only recently discovered it, I know I will refer back to it for a time to come. Bear's Den, thank you so much for making this song! It is so soothing to me and judging from all the positive comments, it is soothing to others as well!

It's been a long time since a song grabbed me , after hearing it once. The raw pain in these lyrics, is like a pair of "emotional glasses" into the loss of his mother:? I have 2 sons, I hope I have taught them it's ok to cry and still hold up their heads up high. ( This is NOT a Criticism of the band & the songwriters experience. I wish modern society really told men how masculine a man can be, while still giving them permission to weep. (I know how much better I feel after a cathartic sob fest) T his song is beautiful and haunting.

See Shells I was looking on Genius for the meaning of the song and in the interview he said “...I don’t want to say what the song means to me because I don’t want to ruin everyone else’s interpretation of it”. I thought that was interesting. It’s a beautiful song for sure

I’ve always loved this song as a beautiful, cathartic tribute to the loved ones I’ve lost. But I’m from Buffalo, NY, and after the horrible events of this past weekend, it hits much heavier now. This community is strong as steel and we will get through this, but it’s pretty painful right now.

Sooner or later, they all succumb to the pressures of being "mainstream pop". M&S was the biggest letdown. They had such a unique sound. Now they just sound like all the other mainstream pop bands. I'm hoping Bear's Den doesn't go the same route.
