@@zoinksscoob6523 I felt the same, although gaming has been evolving over time, foscusing more now on graphics and performance, I think that older games required to have a remarkable soundtrack to make the game more appealing and inclusive, because graphics werent a thing. Now with graphics evolving i feel everything has been changing, the music aint louder anymore than before, and people is paying more attention to details than to the music of the game.

My favourite video game......ever. The noises, the gameplay, all the temples etc just take me right back to being 8 or 9 years old. I remember me and my brother getting stuck on the water temple for what felt like weeks. Our local shop down the road from us sold all the gaming magazines and on a browse one day we found a 'walkthrough guide' for this game being sold with one of them. Safe to say we used it to get past our bump in the road and eventually complete the game. It never took away from the sheer joyous feeling this game gave you from start to finish though. I wish someone had told me that one day I'd be grown up and wouldn't experience feelings like that anymore.......I would have played this game another 500 times.

A link to the past has a better opening, from the dramatic call from zelda, the thunderstorm, and the sense of urgency it presents is amazing. When you find your way into the sewer network and find out your father just died, hits hard within the first few minutes of the game. I like how the rain could be heard hitting the rooftop of the castle when your inside too, the attention to detail is prime compared to the primitive transition to 3d which zelda oot is

@AwiO I'm born 93'. But I'm playing it for the very first time. Just finished my second dungeon. 😅 I wasn't allowed any consoles as a kid. I was a PC kid (but wasn't allowed a lot of screentime at the pc either. So I'm still a noob.) My first game boy was the Advance SP. But I was rarely allowed to play and didn't have many games. So now as an adult I got myself a 3DS and I'm finally experiencing my first Zelda game. I can only imagine how awesome that game must've been as a kid. I mean it's still awesome. But I wish I would've experienced it as a kid. Even though I would've been completely lost without the help of Let's Plays. I own a N64. But I don't have any other games than Pokémon Snap (bought that game for one buck. Haha). I wish it would be easier to get the old N64 games. Now I really wanna play Zelda on my N64. But I'll probably start saving money for a Switch. I really wanna play Breathe of the Wild now. But playing Zelda on my 3DS is bringing me a lot of joy. It's been a while since I experienced that kind of joy with a game.

That last image in the end, when Link meets Zelda again in the castle and it stays still in sepia, i remember the nostalgia and melancholy it evoked me when i played the game as a child. it is genuinely mind boggling to me looking back as a grown ass man how I, and seemingly every other kid, struggled so much with the water temple. More I reminisce on it the more I realise I have to think about the first time you get there, and the journey to it. I think the whole transition from beating the fire temple to beating the water temple is where the true difficulty lies, we just remember the main feature, the temple. I definitely found the temple hard but the more I consider it, even getting to Lake Hylia was an achievement for me as adult link first time through. Funny what a playthrough of a game I thought I knew like the back of my hand can bring to the forefront. Thanks, my dude.

Thank you SO much for this run through. I have been playing along on my 3DS and it helps me so much. I genuinely suck at video games and I know this makes me a cheater but growing up, I always sat with my little brother while he played and I watched just amazed by all the Zelda games (he never let me play). He ended up keeping all the consoles and the games now that we're adults. I finally got a great 3DS secondhand and OoT. I don't have a lot of time on my hands but when I do, I'm enjoying having help to prevent myself from messing up too badly, frustration and starting all over again haha. I might get judged for it but I truly am in a place where I can't commit too much time to video games and I'm still getting so much out of this when I do play. Thank you!!

I love OOT it will always hold a special place in my heart I loved everything about this game the music the dungeons exploring, I remember playing this back in 1998 on my N64 with no online/KZbin help etc that would make you feel great finishing a game like this on your own, the mini Skulltula hunt was surreal, I wish I can relive my first time experience with one of the greatest game ever made again

This game! It was my first experience with a game that had so much hidden depth to it. You could play the main story arch and feel satisfied that you got a complete experience, but to those who where more curious you could start to uncover more and more hidden treasures and secrets behind every polygon! What a wonderful experience it was, I remember getting genuinely scared and excited every time I entered into a new dungeon, knowing that many dangers awaited me and new challenges laid ahead. I never felt 100% confident in my abilities it fit perfectly with the idea of the hero of the story being a child who slowly discovers their strengths and power and becomes the true warrior equipped with warrior abilities. This game has aged wonderfully and it's crazy to see just how many of the story devices, and gameplay mechanics used in this game have been taken on by new creators in new games. Truly a game that will live on in history!!!

Man this was methodical. No hesitation, no delays, literally 100% of the game memorized. Crazy.

The opening song could make me cry- it's very much a bittersweet feeling. Brings me back to a time of being a kid and my Dad and I enjoying this game. One would play as the other would read through the N64 game guide. It gets me everytime.
