My best advice, is to not stop cranking, keep reeling in until you have brought the fish off bottom. Once up to a good amount, you can fight it with ease. I’ve caught big gags & red snapper off 30-40lb leader. Hope this helps! Tight lines 🤙🏼🎣

Great video! Love to see the young'uns getting in on the action. Am I the only right handed person in the world that uses left handed conventional/level wind reels? It always seems like those who use right handed ones look like they're struggling to reel them with control. Never understood that.

one of the best fish to use for ceviche is Louisiana farm raised catfish. you can leave it in the lime juice a lot longer and it won't fall apart like most tender white fish. what we use when we make a big batch of ceviche for a party pic in your FB messages

hey Brad, looks like you were a little snake bid on that trip. it happens , when I go offshore usually out of Fort Myers 80 pound braid 80 pound hard mono leaders, 8/0 4x hooks. Big pinfish and if you can catch A few squirrel fish is my favorite bait if you are targeting big grouper, and soon as you feel a bite, start pulling and crank like hell, or they will rock you up. all of that is just my opinion, and what has worked for me in the past good luck!

And yes, horse them out, keep that thumb on until you are sure you are clear. AJ's will break you off too, and of course those dang grouper. 80lb mono leader Carolina rig, 8 oz egg sinker, 80 lb braid main line, 8/0 circle (all 8's), with a Daiwa 50H reel and 7 ft Heavy rod was my go to back in the day, but always open to trying other rigs.

Lion Fish meat is very tasty and cooks up nicely any way you like fish cooked. Small point the Lion Fish is venomous not poisonous slight difference in how the venom is delivered.

Just about all of the members of the scorpion fish family are very good eating. If you use some shears and cut off the spines, they're easier to handle. Here in Oz we have stonefish. lionfish and stargazers as well as a few others. The stonefish is the most venomous fish in the ocean. We also have a fish called a chinaman (Symphorus nematophorus), which is a lutjanid just like mangrove snapper, but they're usually full of Ciguatera. As a result they're a "no take" species in my state.

Tight lines! Cheers my friend as far as fishing in the ocean I would probably let the fish wind themselves out first before reeling in if it’s a huge one nice and gentle like you said in this video they do break off once and while but it’s what comes with the sport. 🎣🙌🏽
