I installed my YakPower system 3 years ago already... I use "" for my fish finder, "B" for my forward and aft YakPower green LED external light strips, "M" for my 10 Sunpie rock lights (turned for music I might add), "S" for my stern light, "2" is for dual 12v ports, dual USD lights and LED power display. Running a 36 lb. Rear mount salt water rated trolling motor, power control module for the trolling motor, 50 watt 1.1 aH solar panel on my milk crate box with a 54 aH Dakota LiPo battery... on a sunny day... I never run out of power and still have plenty of power for lights and trolling motor for night fishing. I bought a Big Fish 120 and she is an awesome yak… but I had to install a 4” inspection port to do all the wiring from… it was a chore for sure

Dielectric grease them then shrink wrap the connectors. Ask me how I know, they are not waterproof no amount of dielectric will water proof them, I also used the grease on the connectors your green lights plugged into outside the yak.. You will be thankful you did. Also as someone stated save your drill shavings for future repairs. But nice job.

Great gear and install! Side note: A vessel operator should not have white light in any position that it can shine in his eyes. It ruins night vision. Hello. I love your videos. I just got the same kayak and I have a question. When you plug your go pro into the USB to SAE plug, doesn’t water get into or affect the USB port itself? @BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын

Hey Bob! Thanks for watching! In the two years I’ve used it, zero issues using the wireless option. I recently had the control knocked into the water by my measuring board so I’m control-less. Thanks James! Appreciate the kind words! It was pretty straightforward to order everything, and I’m really not super handy honestly. I kept the battery in the front hatch since it doesn’t fit under the seat. When I get a smaller battery I’ll be doing that asap. Let me know if I can help in any way bud!

I see you have links but do you have an estimate on what you spent on all electronics? Battery, fish finder and light setup?
@BeardedDadFishing2 жыл бұрын
Approximately $1,350 in total. $700 for the garmin, $300 for switch and lights, $250 for the battery, and $100 for the various mounts. The price can certainly be cut down depending on the options chosen.

Great install! How do you like the Yak thru hull seals, any water leaks? I went with the wilderness systems thru hull kit on my pdl120.

Thank you my guy! No leaks as of yet. I like these thru hull seals. How do you like the Wilderness ones? Almost went with them.

Why both lights are green. I thought one should be red and the other one green

It's not required for non powered kayaks.

Does this stuff work on BKC
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
It will work on any kayak. The principals are the same, you’ll just have different mounting points.

Looks great!! Have not drilled into my kayak yet kind don't want to. Thought it was pretty sweet was going to be the first project where I actually drilled into my yak unfortunately after pricing it out on the amazon it came in way above my paygrade at a whopping 700+ dollars mostly cause everything says yak attack on it. I feel like its way overpriced project.
@BeardedDadFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Daniel! Seems like a lot for the set up. What all did you order? Might be worth ordering it direct from Yak Power website.

So your bow running lights are both green. Right should be green and left should be red. Also you should have a white light at the stern. Coast Guard regulations. Nice install though.
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
Appreciate it brother. I’m a non motorized vessel so regulations are different. I also don’t do open water just yet.

Bow lights are red & green, that wood will rot and don't use bathroom silicone caulking.
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
Bow lights don’t have to be red and green in an unpowered vessel. And the wood doesn’t rot if the hull stays dry as it should. If you take on water, the wood is the least of the worries 😆
