Here in Nanny state Australia, they make us register any boat with a motor. Which means you also need a hull number. So pedal drive is the better option, even though you can buy a kayak and a motor for cheaper than a pedal drive unit

Nah. Motors make noise. I won't kayak fish with anyone with a motor. Pedal drives are silent. Hobie and Old Town, anyways. I have no use for a motor.

They are not dead, I just bought a Used hobie revolution 16. I feel more comfortable going out on the ocean in it or my hobie outback than i do any electric kayak.

Just thought of something re: the rudder. I would think the best non-flex version would be made out of some sort of hardwood. Certainly more expensive, and I doubt anyone would try to market something like that, but... goodbye flex!

Are the majority of kayak sales not to fisherman? We have about 100 kayaks parked in the rack at our neighborhood beach and almost none are set up to fish and zero have motors.

My buddy got into the hype of having a motor on his Kayak, aside from the headache on having to get it registered and getting certified just to use it, the sheer weight of it after it was loaded was insane. Thing was weighing like 200lbs he sold it in 6 months and went back to a lighter peddle kayak.

I have a high quality $60 kayak cart that lasts forever. I could never $200 on a price gouged cart and I'm really not even a very thrifty person. $250 is crazy for a cart. Kayak accessories are overpriced but it's fun to buy them and accessorize the yak. Guilty pleasure lol
