I agree that the industry is moving towards motorized Kayaks for several reasons that you mentioned, but there will Always be a market for peddle Kayaks, Paddle Kayaks, etc. simply because there are so many economic and geographic applications that motorized vs non-motorized is not a one-size fits all. I live in South Texas and we fish mostly in shallow Flats and those Oyster Shells eat propellers for lunch. With my Hobie Outback and PA, I can shallow peddle (that's right) shallow peddle or paddle them both with ease. My OT 136 (like you said) takes a lot more accessories (although easier to opererate in open water) to get going, and try and paddle one. Not so easy. So I definitely don't think Peddle Kayaks will ever go away. But the technology will only get better and cheaper (We hope.) For the record love my peddle drives! Thanks and God bless! Matthew 4:19

I agree one of the best things I’ve dealt with in kayak tournaments is the camaraderie! It costs a lot for travel but the camaraderie for a few trips a year has been awesome!

In Hawaii I had a Hobie kayak, was not paying attention got swamped by a big wave and lost my trolling motor, battery, 4 fishing rods , and all my other gear. Total of over $1000.. but saved my life😂

Feelfree lure 11.5 and 13.5 in overdrive is a pedal kayak for 2k and is a solid option also.

I have the lure 11.5 v1 paddle and could stand and fish at 220#. Now I have the lure 11.5 v2 overdrive(pedal) and no issues for my uses. I know there are better kayaks but for the used prices and wheel in the keel of moving around it is great.

I am 220# and have had the Lure 11.5 paddle and now 11.5 pedal models. They have been good for me but I also know there are better options. Both allow me to stand and fish.

If people look at kayak bass fishing is an economically feasible way to make money, either they are VERY good, or they are really bad at math.

You have the OLD FlexDrive for the Coosa FD and not the Mark IV drive in your video. Your seat video is also the OLD seat version as well-not the High/Low update. BTW- the NuCanoe Unlimited gets that carrying capacity by cheating the numbers- you have to use scupper plugs in order to turn it into a Sit Inside style kayak. Not exactly apples and oranges.

The problem is that the first guys into the kayak tournament scene wanted to make it into boat fishing. Big trails and big tournaments all over the place. Kayak fishing is, largely, an alternative for guys that don't have the time/money to fish in the bass boat world. They misunderstood the audience. If you try to make it "like boat tournaments", then you lose the value proposition of a kayak tournament. Your marketable audience for these trails is really small, you're basically limited to the guy that have the resources to fish big boat trails but just decided they like kayaks better. That's a small group of people

Good video, you missed the reason I stop fishing tournaments- the CHEATING. I fished the Redman series in my bass boat many years ago , great time, no cheating .with kayak fishing you have people launching before time, fishing during off water time. It is hard to follow the rules and still compete.

Question for tournament anglers. Do people actually show up with just a paddle, I know it would put you at extreme disadvantage. I wanted to get into it. Wondering if I should wait till I can upgrade kayaks or if some people actually just paddle at tournaments?

Nice video! I think I will join a couple online ones this spring/summer. The tournament scene in Kansas is smaller but not really something I am interested in doing, spending hundreds on travelling and entries. Only free or small fee ones will be a good way to enjoy the competitive without getting too serious.

I guess some people just like to go out and fish to enjoy themselves and learn to do better, not to compete in a contest with people with electronics, motors, 9 fishing poles, etc. But to each his own - nothing wrong with people doing that also, meeting friends, and competing! Good video.
