I still can't understand if the bearing stress will be for both the plates individual or not. As in of both the plates are of different thickness, will the bolt experience 2 bearing stresses or just one(as the result of both plate's area of contact

two bearing stresses, as only one side of a plate is considered when analyzing bearing stresses (forces in contact areas are in opposite directions)
