Watching videos like this would have been a lot better than falling asleep in my Mechanical Engineering classes back in the early 90's. I only had one professor who video-recorded his lectures, which I had to watch because his lectures conflicted with my ROTC lab schedule. I learned more from his VHS lectures than from any in-person class. In the video lecture, he zoomed in on the board. And if I got sleepy, I just pushed the STOP button on the VCR, refreshed myself with a short nap, and then resumed where I left off.

I am a high school Engineering teacher, and I use videos like this as a substitute for a textbook, because all the high school engineering "textbooks" are really just recruiting brochures. They are recruiting brochures to convince people how wonderful the field of Engineering is, but without actually teaching any of the nuts and bolts of any Engineering discipline.

Does your high school teach engineering?! That's so cool. What country are you from? I got so many question!

@@Ask125 Many high schools are being pushed to teach and promote Engineering. The History teacher at my old workplace was forced to teach Engineering due to the scarcity of Engineering teachers.

I have a question about the cross-sectional area on the Stress calculation, please. In your video, precisely at 02:33, you showed the cross-sectional area of a solid tube, but what about if the tube is hollow? How do I do it?

Then go about the area around that tube by calculating the area of the inner and outer circle and OH THIS IS TWO YEARS AGO. Sorry if I was too late to help.

Wtf were you thinking
@ar05683 жыл бұрын
Tensile is change in length/size, shear is change in form/shape
@asangwuaikein3 жыл бұрын
Almost. Tension is the opposite of compression. When an object is experiencing tension, it's being pulled apart, so it will get taller and thinner. When an object is in compression, it's being squeezed, so it will get shorter and fatter. Tensile strength is an object's resistance to defamation. Defamation is the measure of how much an object becomes taller/shorter or thinner/fatter. Normal Stresses are forces that act perpidiculate to a surface, like standing on a floor or pushing against a wall. Shear Stresses are forces that act parellal to a surface, like slide an object across a floor or rubbing your hand across a wall.

you didn't explain how to calculate the stressed length in the first place to use it then to calculate the strain and the change in length how are we supposed to find the change in length if we don't know what's the stressed length can you tell what 2 + ? = equals
@AB-gu9ui3 жыл бұрын
The Stretched length would be given to you in the question, or they could give you the change in length whcih you could then use to find the stretch length. As long as there is only one unknown in that equation then you can solve for anything
@mahmudhayet64746 жыл бұрын
why do we need a downward force?
@butterplayz_yt96065 жыл бұрын
Then it’ll just be at equilibrium, so there will be no stress and wouldn’t be a problem at all
