At the end of the war, a young soldier finds himself without a job and, in his distress, enters into a dangerous pact with the devil and his grandmother: he is to dress only in a bearskin for seven years, not wash, comb his hair or cut his nails and is to wander around the country the whole time and not stay anywhere for more than one night. In return, his pockets are always filled with money. But if the soldier doesn't make it, his soul is said to belong to the two devils.
