I'm definitely looking forward to the new BIB album. This song does feel similar to the Battle Beast song Touch in the Night. This song is good and you gotta love Yannis' vocals. In case you're not aware, Anton is a fan of anime and this is about a 90s cyberpunk anime Armitage III. I'm a fan of anime as well, though my tastes differ from Anton's.

I guess the "Indiana Jones" style might be a throwback to Harrison Ford in Bladerunner. Also, since Battle Beasts first albums had the "Berserk" Anime-Theme all over the songs (and we know that Beast in Black is Battle Beast v2.0), I guess this one is also based on some cyberpunk Anime movie like "Armitage III" or "Ghost in the Shell" etc

► Yes, guys, I knew you wouldn't miss the latest from The Beast in Black! ► I will duplicate well-known information below for people interested in this music... ---------- ► Videoclip, for the most part, was based on a manga and anime called "Armitage III". ---------- ► Our very own Anton Kabanen Official states: "Enter cyberpunk. Flying cars, sprawling metropolis, valleys of neon lights, emotionless killers, gynoids, femmes fatales, shadowy characters, lethal lust, forbidden passion, love larger than life, space travel... All this and much more is what 'Dark Connection' holds within. Such cyberpunk animes as Armitage III, Cyber City Oedo 808, AD Police, Battle Angel Alita and Bubblegum Crisis have essentially served as sources of inspiration, as well as the immortal classic film by Ridley Scott; Blade Runner. And as always, a Beast In Black album wouldn't be a Beast In Black album without a heavy impact of Berserk, the manga and anime creation of Kentaro Miura. Sadly, the beloved author passed away while we were still making this album. Thus, 'Dark Connection' is dedicated to Kentaro Miura."

I don't like movies that end like this one. Hopefully she'll be resurrected in the next one. I also don't understand the logic of the main male character in this - first he couldn't care less about her, but them takes a totally opposite course of action.

I’ve been wondering this myself
@arthurgoyle34793 жыл бұрын
I assume he is the headhunter mentioned in the intro text. I see it that way that he found her but couldn't help her in a public place and trusted that she could escape herself. But did you notice how he stopped when he saw Kape and then got furious when Mate shot her? Only then he realized that he has to help her. I find it very humane and interesting. The story doesn't tell why he couldn't take her somewhere safe to be fixed, but at least he wanted to give her a decent and peaceful way to die. In the intro text it says that "the corporation" wants the whole generation III to be killed and she probably is a robot from generation III, so maybe that's why there is nothing he could do about it?
@oceansoul0853 жыл бұрын
This is what I get out of it based on dozens of viewings, characters listed in the end credits, and taking into account the lyrical themes: he’s one of the (human) headhunters mentioned in the opening text; she’s one of the third gen androids-sorry, gynoids. He’s meant to be hunting her down and destroying her, but clearly he’s developed feelings for her somewhere along the way. We see in her final flashbacks that time and again he’s let her go when he had her cornered, and obviously she’s got feelings for him too. (I would love more details on their backstory). He’s conflicted about this (he’s supposed to be killing her, human/artificial-being romance is probably taboo, etc). So when she’s hurt and directly asking for his help that conflict comes to a head; he hesitates, but chooses the safer/familiar path of not actively helping her-until, as he’s turning away, the fourth gen androids show up and do her harm. That seems to be enough to instantly reverse his decision and he turns on them-but of course it’s too late, and he’s ‘admitted’ his true feelings just in time to take her to safety outside the city and stay with her while she dies. I’m also hoping we get more of this story in the next video, whether he’s hunting down his former allies in revenge or searching for a repair shop to bring her back to life.

@@tarmotyyri6733 Yes definitely, that is very obvious. There is also very many references to other masterpieces and animes, all blend together. I saw them live twice and neither time did they play Zodd the Immortal. It was then that I knew they would go soft. The second album was like a watered down version of the first in every aspect and looks like the third one will follow the same path.
@APREACTS3 жыл бұрын
Their sound has gotten more 80s synth pop driven with each album. Undeniable.
@Torsteen-p3d3 жыл бұрын
@ Peter Tapola Sorry, but I respectfully disagree, and I wouldn't jump to conclusions like that. Anton Kabanen is the songwriter, and this isn't his 3rd album. It's his 6th album. He started out in Battle Beast and wrote every song on their first three albums. And at no point has there been any noticeable change from his normal writing style. This song isn't any "softer" than for example "Crazy, Mad, Insane" from their first album, or "Touch In The Night" on Battle Beast's 3rd album, or "Savage And Saint" from Battle Beast's 1st album, which was also the first album Anton ever released. He's always mixed 80's pop with 80's heavy metal in various ways, since the very beginning. Besides, there's only one song out from the upcoming album, so you have no basis to form an opinion on it yet, so it sounds more like you're trying to project a preconceived personal fear onto the band and trying to twist the objective facts to support said fear. Let's just wait until the album is out before making any decisions on it, okay? Peace bro. :)
@petertapola80973 жыл бұрын
@@Torsteen-p3d I am aware of Anton's history. The facts are that BiB's first album is heavier than the second and this first song from third. It is a fact that Zodd is the heaviest song they have made and that they haven't made as heavy a song since. Choosing MR as the first song to be released is likely to represent the overall feel of the album. So there's no projecting on my part. I'd like to be wrong, but it's unlikely.
