You should also check City of the Great Machine! It's not exactly hidden movement game (Beast is neither), but more like hidden intentions game.

Whitehall Mystery was one of the first hidden movement games I ever picked up, and I have to say, it is probably the best one I've ever played. However, when I was in Vegas, I was able to find a copy of Beast. The artwork and the allure of another hidden movement game really pulled me in. Much like you, my first two playthroughs had me beyond excited and then I had one game as a hunter, where I felt like I could do nothing, and nothing was happening. A lull that I had never experienced with Whitehall. It will stay on my shelf however, and I am looking forward to pulling it out again, even if it is not often. You had also brought up Terrorscape, and I think you should check out the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Slaughterhouse board game that released this year. I picked it up from Barnes and Noble for 25 dollars and it was one the greatest finds I've stumbled across. I think you would love it and I would love to see you review it. Thank you for always putting out the highest quality content. I look forward to each and every video. The dynamic, the music, and the way you present your videos is unmatched! You deserve all the growth the channel has been having.

It's interesting you say you could do nothing as the hunter, as that's the sentiment of the player I've been crushing the past two plays. Except he played beast. He truly felt like he didn't stand a chance, and that he couldn't have done anything different - in my opinion it's an experience thing. Most of the comments on bgg are about this very thing too, alternating between hunt and beast side complaining they never had a chance.

The real question I have about this game is is it worth having this AND Terrorscape or it's better for a collection to have Terrorscape and let's say City of the Great Machine. I backed Terrorscape because I felt my collection needs a one versus many (or many versus one) game that's not a dungeo crawler and also hits the spot for a horror theme board game (after I love Betrayal at house on the hill but my group feels it's a bit slow at times before we get to the scenario) so anyway I have decided Terrorscape is the suspense, horror, slasher onver versus many game to have for now. Hopefull we like it. However I have always wanted a board game that is basicaly watch beats is...or Evolve was for PC. I wanted a game where a group of players have unique characters with unique skills that form a hunting party hunting a monster, trying to track and put it down before it becomes too strong, or before it murders the village, or before it murders them instead. Something I'd call many versus one. Since in contrast to Terrorscape it's not the one hunting you while you try to complete objectives...literally the opposite the many are hunting the one trying to stop it from completing it's goal. So sound slike beats...right? I'm not sure. Watched 1 playthrough so far and it does look like it has the potential to just dud out. At least this one game had the hidden movement completley useless. The beast got revealed more than once per day. In addition the hunters turned the game less on hunting that on just Leeroy Jenkings rushing teh beast which of course lead to the beast killing all 3 of them on day 2 and it was over before it started (sort of). I don't mind a game having the potential to tun out like that (I love Nemesis) but I'd like to know the game can also work as a supsensful, thrilling hunt. Perhaps there's a monster and a contract offering a dynamic like that. Perhaps there's a monster that will prefer to reveal itself less but quickly move around, complete tasks while the hunters struggle to track it in order to pin it down. I don't know that, maybe someone does and eases my pain. Anyway so here I am on a crossroad wondering if I should back Beast or sit on my hands and try and hunt down a deluxe City of the Great Machine...or just wait for Terrorscape to come and not order anyhting until then. As I tried to shoretly summize my concern with BEast is that it pretend to be the game I want it to be (a group of unique hunters group up to hunt a dnagerous beast before it completes a goal) but also I've gathered from the net several opinion saying that it literally just pretends and in reality it actually isn't. I don't mind the hidden movement not being main mechanic I'm just concerend if all beast are more than happy to duke it out with the hunters, if there are contracts that change up the gameplay (like for instance swict hgoals with the beast huinting the hunters, or the beats trying to survive instead of just killing 2 villagers) does the game have the potential to deliver on the thrilling situation one expect from a hunt. Can you get to a "clever girl" moment as you were hunting the beast but it turns out it outplayed you with a clever maneuver? From what I've read on the beast board online it doe slook like every beast is similar - has an upgrade to have it deal more damage with an attack, has similar familiars that populate the board and act similarly (apparently), is that an issue for the game or the beasts actually unique? Are all contracts in the style of - kill beast in 3 days or before it kills X villagers? I kinda want to know a few opinionated answers on those before I decide to back not only the game but the expansions as well. If someone read throuhg all of that and answers...cheers you are a true lad!

"I Wanna Destroy You"... reminds me of that song by The Soft Boys off their classic record Underwater Moonlight. 😊

Yeah I think we like Mind MNGMT more than this, but artwork is amazing in this :) also 3 players it pretty much the only way to play

This game was really a complete miss for my group and me, and playing Mind MGMT and City of the Great Machine after it solidified that opinion even more. Thank you for another great video.

Ordered Terrorscape looks great. Wanted to pledge beast because it looks intriguing but I found it pretty pricey for what your getting. I may just get the standard edition since that’s the only bundle priced about right. Great stuff fellas.

Mind MGMT is a so much better hidden movement game than Terrorscape. Almost no luck involved, only pure deduction skills 😎🤩

Yeah, Sniper Elite is an almost excellent game (line of sight may sometimes cause a problem to the player, but after few games you'll be on the right track)! Was hesitating about The Beast but made my decision, it didn't click. Hidden movemen but less hidden. It can be a skirmish game but sometimes just not. Do you really have to remember your path? Card drafting can be fun - in person I do not like it - but it takes time and playing these cards later slows down the game... because it want to be a kinda' deckbuilder as well. Too much things put together which increases the time, deduction shifts to drafting, hunting turns into fighting. You can upgrade your character which I really like but it is an attribute of longer games and this game is not an adventure game.

Is it really a hidden movement game though when the beast is revealed every time it sneezes

fair review but i thought you have to remove all movement cards when you reveal, how the hell do you get +10 movement cards when you reveal yourself all the time?

Thank you for the thorough and funny review as always :D This game sounds so interesting, and 3 players is perfect for my group. Honestly it seems like a more fun/in depth Dead By Daylight (tho that's 5p)

Yea, I’m a fan of the theme and the idea just not a fan of the game sadly.

For me, the best way to describe the game would be "yeah....but": The game can be so fun... but it might be terrible Playing as the beast is fun... but being a hunter is just okay The theme and illustrations are great... but creepy as well. It's not the worst hidden movement game... but it certainly isn't the best one
