This, and Cinderella's dress scene are some of my favorites to look at in live action Disney musicals!

Best transformation I've found on here! AND it doesn't require a 45 minute blackout like most of the others!

What an amazing transformation scene. Really creative and makes such a change from the others I've seen on here where the stage is flooded with smoke so the audience can't see anything. Absolutely brilliant
@vashthestampede115 жыл бұрын
I vividly remember seeing this on Broadway about 20 years ago. I am also a Disney World fanatic and have seen their version too, but everytime the transformation happens they always put a certain over him or blacked out the stage. The Broadway show transformation took my breath away. It was so seamless.
@nondescript28926 ай бұрын
it was! I saw the original production on Broadway in 1995 and it was breathtaking..every other production I have seen since..including the London one..had cost corners cut....that first production Disney spared no expense it was jaw dropping

Usually the make-up is already taken off for the most parts before this scene. That's why the stage is so dark when the beast is stabbed (also the spotlight's usually on Gaston). The horns and remaining prostetics are tied to the cape, which is swooped offstage.

I think... Prior to the beginning of the clip, there is a fight sequence. During that sequence, they switch out the real beast for a "double" fight beast. That's when the actor has time to take off makeup and such. Again, I think... by the beginning of the clip, the real beast is back. He's harnessed at the waist probably with a somersault harnesses. Lifts, spins, and at about 1 min. 3 sec. lighting change. I think, when there's the final bump of light, the cloak over his torso and head are pulled by sting of some kind through the doorway which has a black curtain. And at the same time, he shifts his weight forward to change from lying down position to standing up. Note how when he stops spinning, his torso/head are facing the doorway, and that right after the "reveal", you can see that the curtain is split down the center... where the cloak is pulled. I THINK. :

JohnCedric123 for my highschool production we just turn off all the lights in the auditorium so the beast and prince can switch. We have small strobe lights but that's it. I have to memorize my music at that part

LITERALLY guys it's just someone pulling it all of from behind the curtains. They pull the beast back in place around 1:10, and they dim light more, and yank and he's done. There ya go. I'm doing this for my set design class and my high school is doing this with a fly set
