For those wondering why both Optimus Primal and Megatron (BW) transform after joining sparks, it is explained in the comics that both Optimus Prime and Megatron (G1) have what are called .1% sparks. Their sparks are born directly from Primus, and they're given pure free choice from their birth. To be anything they want to be. And it's in fact the reason why Megatron (G1) started the war.

And at this point it would be the same trouble with any long lived franchise that neither confirms nor denies every other writer's works. Worse still when you have a messy franchise continuity like Transformers. . If you'd like to argue that this was not the original intent behind what happened, I would be inclined to agree. But that's usually still the case for all retcons. . It's still the most reasonable answer as to what happened. Unless we get a proper answer from Bob Forward, because we'll never hear the answer from Larry DiTillio.

The Beast Wars Megatron is a type of villain that's going extinct these days. Most villains today have personal tragedy, try to make you see things from their perspective on how they got there and how some of us might have made that same choice. Now don't get my wrong. Those types of villains are great. Especially when done right. But I do kind of miss having some A-list villains in franchises who were evil just for the sake of wanting things there way and were willing to do anything to get it. (I only want this in fiction, not real life.) This Megatron is a dying breed that I hope we see come back in a way that works with the times of today.

Most people want the tragic, complicated, redeemable villain, so when somebody makes a "pure evil" villain, they're treated like a shitty author for making an "easy" antagonist. Those who want the pure evil villains are in the super minority at this point, so we almost always end up with redeemable, tragic villains. Oh well. There's always Sukuna from JJK.

It's like he is able to predict who is most likely going to betray him, but can't fully expect when it happens and how it happens, which is what surprises him every ones in a while. What also surprises him, is that even when it could be more convenient for the other Predacons to keep him alive so that they are more able to deal with the Maximals, the Preds still do it despite it, which is a stupid move while they are still in conflict.

And for those reading this and want answers, it essentially goes like this: Rattrap and Rhinox find a memory backup of Dinobot's memories or something similar in the ruins/databanks of their old ship, and against Rhinox's advice Rattrap captures Dinobot's clone and tries to install them, hoping they get their old chopperface back. Unfortunately, those memories didn't take and Dinobot escapes... until Rampage/Protoform X dies and the clone's spark becomes whole again and he reboots. Edit: Mistake pointed out by Valiant Wrestling Federation's comment below.

Primal had the superior body, which is why Predacon Megatron decided to occupy a clone of it in Beast Machines. In Beast Wars however, after Megatron gained his Dragon form, he was more powerful than Primal; even though Primal had the superior body. To those who don't understand how could Optimal Optimus Primal lose, the reason is stated by Megatron himself: Megatron: Did you think you could stand against the fury of _both_ Megatrons? What this means is that since Megatron had 2 sparks in his body (his own + the original Megatron's), he was by default more powerful. It's like if a person hypothetically has an extra heart or a second brain; or better yet a computer with more Ram added to it: that person or computer would have a lot more horse power to exert. Thus is the reason why he kept beating Primal going forward in Beast Wars even though Primal had the superior body.

The reason main reason why Megatron is that he loves the irony of defeating Primal with his own body. Now that to say your theory isn't a factor. It's kind of like that one G1 episode where Spike Witwicky had his human mind temporarily transferred to a robotic body while they performed surgery on his human body to save his life. Primal returned Prime's spark by the end of the episode "Optimal Situation" and was able to retain his upgraded body kind of like how Captain America retained his peak physical condition even after the super soldier formula was no longer in his system. Beast Wars Megatron evolved his body by carrying G1 Megatron's Spark and because he constantly had two Sparks in his body, he was able to overpower Optimal Optimus every time even though they theoretically should be equals since each of their bodies evolved by the same process. Think of it like an Iron Man suit equipped with the standard single arc reactor vs. another Iron Man suit of a similar build armed with two arc reactors. The one equipped with two arc reactors would have energy to spare and can exert more force than the one equipped with one arc reactor.

One pet peeve: I always wished that optimus primal and megatron’s final forms more closely resembled their G1 spark counterparts. Primal should have been red and blue instead of yellow and blue, with megatron being a gray/gunmetal color dragon (I also wished they’d have found a way to give him an arm cannon instead of the dragon head as the weapon

Trust me, we ALL are. David Kaye MADE this Megatron his own. The mannerisms, the comedic timing, all his so to reduce Megatron to a sniveling fanboy who cannot trip over himself fast enough to fanboy over G1 Megatron is an insult. We all know what would really happen if BW and G1 Megs met. They might be cordial for awhile but all the while planning to stab the other in the back at the most opportune moment.

I always figured the only reason the beastformers could access them so easily was because they where in emergency stasis lock, defenses down so medics/repair bots could easily access damaged parts. I dont think guzzler era repair tech was as powerfull as the newer stuff, was probably way more hands on.

Nice juxtaposition. Optimus had to merge with his ancestor’s Spark out of necessity, Megatron did it just to level the playing field. Prime’s Spark almost seamlessly merged with Primal’s, Megatron’s seems resistant. Optimus Primal shares a breathtaking moment in communicating with Prime for a second, Megatron doesn’t even speak with his ancestor. Even their new forms are interesting. Optimal Optimus looks more technological while Megadragon leans more on the organic, bestial side.

Beast Machines issues were because they specifically hired writers who had never watched Beast Wars. Also, abandoning the robots part of transformers, kind of makes them not transformers anymore.

One of my problems with BM is that it went to yoga\philosophy with the transformation. The other thing was messing around with Vector Sigma especially once in later comics\stories post BM that it is revealed Vector Sigma was supposed to been a quint program. The whole Megatron making the virus and taking over Cybertron can be explained that he used the time of reaching the planet first and the whole space\time jump to his advantage. I would have wanted to see a few episodes of him making it and then somehow figuring out a way to distribute the virus planet wide.

i'm just going to nerd out for a second and say that remember that when hot rod took optimus primes spark in the movie he turned into rodimus prime and kind of morphed bigger like optimus primal did, and optimus primal was already transmetal 1, so thats why i think he morphed into like a transmetal one g1 transformer. i would also consider galvatron a g1 transmetal 1. but if you remember the episode, terrantulus modified some of the stuff which made them transmetal 1 (i think it has to do with unicron blowing up and leaving pieces of himself on the planet), so after modifying it he makes this little orb that can turn them transmetal 2. this orb was in the same lava pit as megatron, and since megatron doesn't have autobot matrix, he wouldn't get the g1 transformer stuff like rodimus or optimus primal did, but he would be transmetal 2. and another comment in this video said that there was a lost episode where megatron g1's spark was returned. so in my mind that makes sense as to why he's not part decepticon but instead is just transmetal 2. thx. i found this later kzbin.info/www/bejne/robVdaKjmNl4jZY explains optimus was rebuilt so he wouldn't revert back after losing the matrix, also the other guy he gave it to before rodimous was already big enough to take the matrix, seems if the body isn't big enough for the autobot matrix that's when it enlarges you. also if you look at unicrons wings its like megatrons after he jumps out of the pit. thx.

My theory is that the spark upgrades the holder to a “larger”sized auto bot vessel. In the case of Optimusprime it does nothing as he is already large auto bot. In the case of ultra Magnus also nothing as he is large. Rodiumus being medium upgrades him. Same with primal. Being a smaller bot he was upgraded to a larger sized auto bot. Thus the form change was not just mechanical it was non earthly since it made him part autobot. Where as the other famous holders were already antleast auto bots and so the change was less significant.

Also I feel primal couldn’t revert back to his old form. Although Rodimus reverted he went from auto bot to auto bot. Primal didn’t have a previous autobot form to revert to. He was changed to auto bot compatible form from maximal.

it was shown but only on some networks, back when cartoon network was great, Time constraints and programmable tv ads were always an issue back then. The ending for shadow raiders was clipped too. NB= Don't miss cable tv one bit anymore, its gone to shit, but I always hated when they repeated an entire season or went straight back to the beginning after a few new episodes were shown. Oh god was pokemon bad for this.
