since they bumped of terrorsaur i suppose they needed to fill the void with treacherous plotter and used tarantulus for it, he wasn't nearly this disobedient in the first season

i dont think so... his actions when he attempts to leave the planet...and in season 2 & 3 we also get further explanations for his treachery
