@AECorner3 жыл бұрын
Mariela Gil, we are sorry to hear this about your mom. Something like the Beasy Board or a standard sliding board might still be appropriate, but we cannot advise without seeing her. We would recommend that you talk to her doctor about getting a home health PT & OT referral so that they can advise you on the best & safest way for both you and your mom when transferring her. There may also be other equipment that might assist depending on her status. Take care & be safe! ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com

Alzheimer’s is very difficult for the individual as well as the caregivers. We would also suggest seeing if there is a local Alzheimer’s support group, if you haven’t already. It can be very helpful to be able to share with others who might be experiencing some of the things that you are. We wish you and your mom the best.

Do three types stand for quality of the equipment or for further facilitation of the patient?
@AECorner11 ай бұрын
@@raziaikram2833 further facilitation of the patient. The Beasy Trans: The model #1100 is the 40″ “Original S-shaped Transfer System” by Beasy. This model is ideal for automobile transfers. It has also been used successfully to boost or reposition patients in bed and with transferring larger profile patients. The Beasy 2: The model #1200 is a 28″ transfer system perfect for small areas, especially bathroom transfers. If the attending professional approves, this device may be used for independent transfers. Many facilities use the 1200 for boosting patients into bed. The Beasy Glyder: The model #1300 is the 32″ transfer system. This device is a great solution for situations when the arm of the wheelchair is not removable or the wheel is an obstacle. The crescent shape of the board facilitates the caregivers natural transfer motions.

Thank you for your feedback, @drewka7436. That's a valid concern. We understand how seeing an able-bodied person use adaptive equipment might not fully represent how it functions in everyday life.
@marshahudgins39573 жыл бұрын
It would be helpful if you could demonstrate how a person who's unable to use their arms or legs could be transferred by a caregiver. ALS eventually takes away one's ability to move as they become paralyzed.
@AECorner3 жыл бұрын
Marsha Hudgins, yes, ALS is a very debilitating disease. Depending on the progression of the disease, this device may not be appropriate. We always suggest that you get a local PT/OT consultation to determine what devices are needed for loved one and caregiver safety. Once the appropriate type of equipment is determined, we also recommend to check for local lending closets before having to purchase anything that is not covered by insurance. Here is a link to some lending closets listed by state www.adaptiveequipmentcorner.com/resources Hope this is helpful. Take care! ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com
