When is the last time you seen a team routine like this, where djs aren’t just playing a track on one turntable and scratching over it. And when they did the breakdown juggle, and then blended them. Come on you won’t ever see this quality of team djing ever again.

Over the years, I've often wondered whether Tony Prince actually understands what the DJs in the DMC battles are doing. Just a few comments he's made have seemed strange, e.g. in a magazine interview he once did, back in '99 or '00, when asked about which recent DJ had impressed him the most, he mentioned DJ P, from Oklahoma, who was on the '99 US DMC Final tape. Now, P is a great, great mix DJ, but, as anyone who has ever seen that '99 US DMC tape will know, he's no turntablist. It just left me doubting Prince's knowledge.

i'm guessing he's always paid more attention to the way the crowd reacts, especially when the scratching and cutting got hyper-technical and could only be appreciated by "scratch nerds"

Perhaps he said that because DJ P set was SO unusual for those days. In 99 , a guy MIXING? ... i was impressed too...

true, but p's mixing was not exactly seamless -- a lot of pitch bending to keep that shit on :)
