Yup! We all win some and lose some. I watched a guy in front of me in line at a thrift buy a sealed lego Death Star set for $15. Looked it up and the set was worth around $1200. I was pretty bummed, but there’s always more deals out there.

Always take the batteries out if not in use my high school dot matrix gameboy was in storage for 15 years recently got it back only to find the batteris exploded I was able to clean it and it works fine now :)

Learning to handle reseller and collector's anxiety when thrifting or going to garage sales is huge. There's always going to be something you will find to flip or collect. You win some and lose some. We've all been that way whether it be at goodwill, facebook marketplace, garage sales, vendor malls, etc. Be thoughtful of where you look first at these places, but no need to add stress when going out. Have fun and the deals will follow. :)

I've had very similar experiences with the last pick up. I've seen a few folks get some great games, talked with them for a few minutes and congratulated them on finding a great haul. It does get very competitive out there but at least for me, I've always been a good sport about it and most will chat for a minute. There was one time this didn't happen, no conversation took place and I found such a great haul and the fact it was hidden throughout the store, I'm guessing that was no accident. Just sold a disney infinity character lot so I can help you out on the ones to look out for. The big value ones to look out for are any of the Mickey’s (sorcery mickey goes for the most). Hulkbuster (the hulk ironman suit) goes for a good bit too. Best advice, look for star wars, big sized characters, new disney movie characters, and mickey!

A lot of our charity shops etc, in the UK, are selling DVDs for around 25p. I even found somewhere they were 10 DVDs for £1. Another charity shop locally has an offer......fill a bag with CDs and DVDs for £1.

Absolutely right about being a few minutes late. Just last summer walked into a garage sale only to see someone walking out with a cardboard box about 15x15x15 full of console game cartridges! Found the table they were setting at and the sign was still there. Video games $3.00 each!!!!! This happened to me there was a kid with a mental disability in front of me at goodwill and they just put out some good ps2 games and he took forever until his dad said to move out the way for me and I started grabbing the ones I wanted and found Wii sports, Wii sports resort, and a few good ones for ps2...well the kid came back and asked for resident evil dead aim on ps2 and of course I couldn’t say no.

I scored on a tote of Wii stuff at a yard sale. Had a Wii with all hook ups, 2 wiimote and nunchucks, all of the accessories for Wii sports, a zapper, a sweet Wii rifle, the Wii workout thing for Wii fit and like 23 games. I lucked out this week and finally found a GBA at my pawn shop, then saw they had moved Crimson Skies for Xbox from their normal shelf to the $2 bin. Super awesome game by the same folks that made Battletech! Also grabbed a 3DS lot on marketplace (incl. Pokemon Sun) for a decent price and traded some DVD series for Pokemon Sapphire.

Btw...I TOTALLY understand how awkward those situations can be, Retro Rick. There are times when I've had first dibs on a whole big stack of movies/games and I like going through a ton of items in my grocery cart while I do this. I'm definitely a collector/re-seller hybrid too so I do keep a lot of my purchases for me personally while flipping the rest (or giving some of them away as gifts too). But these decisions take time and some people don't get that. Ha, ha!
