The BeatStreet logo with that pink and yellow gradient. I took hip hop classes from 8-13. We had one of those tiny CRT TV's and one of the three movies we had was Beat Street. Any free time I had before class I'd pop the DVD in and I never got tired of it, no matter how many times I watched it. I just bought a new copy a couple weeks ago and there was so much I missed. I didn't even know Kool Herc and Afrika Baambaata were in it and I was blown away when I saw them. This ain't just a movie, it's an experience and above all else it's a piece of history, straight up! Timeless classic

I from the west coast but dig this east coast culture thang
@wesleyrobinson49495 жыл бұрын
Abel- Not-Able that's because New York birthed this thing we love and grew up called Hip Hop which was birthed in and Boogie Down Bronx spread to Crooklyn Shalion Money making Manhattan The Q Boro Strong Island and upstate NY hoods. And I love that West coast culture as well and I grew up during the golden era of Hip Hop in Strong Island NY the home of Rakim EPMD Public Enemy Dela Soul Biz Marlie but some of my all time favorite artists are from the west coast like Ice Cube Snoop Dogg King T Mc Eight and DJ Quick. But nothing was like this Hip Culture that NY birthed when it came to all the elements of Rapping Djing Break Dancing Graffiti and the Hip Hop fashion which NY birthed and it was immulated all over the country and world. I remember being a young B Boy myself fun Long Island going to 42 street in Times Square to see Beat Street with my friends. We were mesmerized by this scene and other classic scenes from the movie because at the time this movie came out even in the ghetto suburbs of Long Island were knee deep in this thing called Hip Hop which we grew up on. I will never forgot the house parties the block parties and the park jams where we vibed to all the Hip Hop classics and I will never forget the battles and shows I was in being a B Boy myself. Rest in Peace to Buck 4 and Kuruki and all the brothers and sisters frm my old hood New Cassel Westbuury Long Island that went back to the essence. This scene to this day sends chills through my body even at the age of 51. Ain't nothing like NY Hip Hop in its purest form. Big up to the 5 Boros Strong Island and all of upstate NY especially Albany Buffalo and Rochester. Nobody was as fly and fresh as NY B Boys and B Girls and that's facts. I would say only Cali cats got that unique style of there own like NY had and always will.
