Beat the Clock - One girl's plan to bring safe water to her community in Brazil

Our programmes in Brazil are supporting women and girls as they inspire their communities, by providing the education and skills they need to access clean, safe water. Together, we will Beat the Clock.
17-year-old Sanmya grew up in rural Maranhão state, Brazil. She has been involved in Plan International projects since she was five. Most recently, she helped lead a project in her community to supply safe drinking water and create a community garden.
"Today, I can recognise that myself and the other kids are the future of our community," says Sanmya who is now the first girl from her community to attend university. "I carry the responsibility of being an image, this mirror for people in my community, so they can believe there is hope and possibilities for their path."
