Also, not to be super pedantic but Irish or "Gaeilge" is actually a part of the Gaelic languages like Manx or Scots. So actually, Irish is a specific form of Gaelic, not the other way around. Irish is a Gaelic language in the same way that English is a Germanic language.

It's not that a majority want to help, it's just how the numbers play out. TLDR the numbers favour the player A fun fact about who wants to be a millionaire is that the contestants are preselected but put in a queue for their specific taping, so if the taping ends before they get called up then they don't go up at all and it'll be a new queue in the next taping. Now these people aren't in the audience, but each potential contestant has family that is and that family has a vested interest in seeing the players before their family member lose quickly so theirs actually gets to play; this means they will intentionally guess wrong on ask the audience (which is why you get incorrect spikes on what should be easy questions). Despite all this, even if there are a roughly equal proportion of people wanting to help, wanting to hurt, and guessing, the correct answer ends up with around 40% on average if each group is the same size with incorrect answers only being on average 20% each.
