Beat This 3kg Jiro Ramen In Less Than 20 Minutes, Win FREE Ramen For Life!

For my final challenge in Taiwan, I joined some friends to take on a massive 3kg Jiro Ramen Challenge at ShinXing XinXin Ramen in Taipei, Taiwan. Challengers have just 20 minutes to finish a 3kg bowl of ramen covered in loads of bean sprouts, eggs, pork, and oodles of garlic in order to earn their ramen meal for free, a spot up on the Wall of Fame, and free ramen FOR LIFE!

I'm very lucky to have a jiro ramen restaurant in my (American) city, it's one of my favorite styles of ramen now. I get a bowl with a more modest amount of garlic, but given the variability in pungency from bulb to bulb, sometimes the garlic tastes mild, but other times it's almost too strong. Definitely helps when you're able to mix the garlic into the broth to evenly distribute it, but the mounded bowl is part of the style. Congrats to all! That was a monster bowl and you killed it.

Xiao Hui came to kick ass and eat ramen and she ran out of ramen. She was so sweet though, applauding as every person finished and offering napkins. As to the challenge, that is a ridiculous amount of raw garlic, props to everyone for finishing and that was hell of an intoduction to ramen challenges for you Katina. The ramen itself looked delicious though, despite the mountain of garlic in it.
