I spent 12 months in hospital as a 12/ 13 year old boy. And The hospital radio would collect request from the youngsters. This was one of my favourites along with. Silence is golden, Massachussets, Hey Jude. And a few others. The 60s and 70s were the greatest days for music.

I was thinking of this song the other day when looking at some holiday photos from 1968 when I had been going out with my husband for 3 months. I was 16 and he was 18 and he came with us on our family holiday to Yorkshire, a few weeks later we heard this song on the radio and he said that he remembered it playing as we walked past the pier and I was surprised that he remembered that. He passed away last year after 50 years of marriage and I suddenly thought of this song and came here to listen to it again.

The Casuals was a British band that was unfairly overlooked in the 60s, although Jesamine became a UK Top 2 in 1968, they released a string of fine pop singles which sadly went largely unnoticed. They were massive in Italy however, having spent many years there prior to returning to England in early 1968.

@thomasmarthinussen89782 жыл бұрын
@@bryanpalmer9660 Hi, Bryan! Toy is another fine one by The Casuals, albeit more jolly and Bubblegummy than Jesamine. Toyland, Hello Its Me and Sunflower Eyes are other gems. Sunflower Eyes was written by the same team who wrote Jesamine (Manston/Gellar aka Marty Wilde/ Ronnie Scott) and is the closest they came to duplicate the sound and feel of Jesamine. John Tebb had a stellar voice. I think he passed away a couple of years ago. No doubt, Jesamine and Sunflower Eyes hold pretty well up against similar musical creations by The Bee Gees and Honeybus!

@@paulkenneally789 I really love The Casuals! They had a sound that was a blend of early Bee Gees and Honeybus. Jesamine is on my Top 10 list of the finest songs of the 60s! I really hope Cherry Red Records releases a proper Complete Decca Recordings CD box in the not too distant future. They deserve a comprehensive anthology.
