Without question? I mean they had their minute no doubt there in the late 60s but minimally to get into the Hall of Fame you need to be performing for 25 years. And not to slag them off totally or anything but they're essentially Beatle knockoffs that a had couple hit records. So maybe a couple questions

@@tangibleandroid818 Actually the two main singers are in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame from their time being in the Mothers of Invention . They went by Flo and Eddy at that time because they were not permitted to use their real names. They eventually went to court to fight that. Also to be in the Rock Hall you had to have had your first hit 25 years ago. The rules never said you had to play non stop for 25 years. They had many hits; not a couple. Up until the virus struck they did a Happy Together tour with 60’s and 70’s artists. They’ve been doing it for around 20-25 yrs. I think it’s Mark Vollman that also went back to college and got his masters in music and taught music for a while. There is a documentary about them you should watch.

The Turtles were similar to other groups of that era---they had a sizeable audience for awhile until their fan base's tastes shifted and records sales diminished. The groups eventually disbanded until those same fans became nostalgic for the music of their youth. Reunion tours began and became profitable enough to remain popular to this day.

Posted a comment on other videos regarding this song and the memories it brings back every time I listen to it 56 years after it hit the airways. 80 years old now they flood into my mind like I was in Montreal yesterday and Toronto day and on the phone talking to a lovely young girl that I said good bye to in Montreal Station saying I’d be back in Montreal to visit her in a few weeks. This was the song that resonated with the moment that cold February 1967. The phone calls drifted from days into weeks and then became the past as we went out seperate ways, like ships in the night, starting with a bright light then fading into darkness never to meet again. The memory of the time never faded and the song keeps the time reminiscing in my mind like on other. I can honestly say that it occurs with no other period in my life. I see Miss Montreal clear as day at the Station wear a fur hat on her head and and down the lovely cheeks closed at the chin. Yes I do reminisce about what if I had returned to Montreal the next week or even a Month later. Then again I wouldn’t have this lovely memory of the time. Yes, I did visit my brother in Montreal some 3 years later, with the girl that I married (and still married) in Toronto 18 Months later in I968, so a catch up with an old flame highly unlikely in Ville Lasalle Montreal. Living on the other side of the world today it provides for a lovely memory on my part. As for the lovey girl in the fur hat, now that’s the real mystery, is she sitting in bed at 78 years of age listening to the Turtles and reminiscing about 1966? Well, hello, hello and pleasant dreams to everyone with such a fond Memories flicker through the ages of our minds.
@Paddymayne47388 ай бұрын
Update. Trying to find my friend Bobby Peel who took me to the party where I met the young girl. Lotto odds in finding him and even lesser odds in finding the girl, who is of course a Grandmother today. It would be fabulous in some ways to do so and perhaps better for the memories and picture in my mind to remain as status quo.

I get it. Makes sense. My daughter and I got into a heated discussion re: who is better, the Beatles or the Stones. I told her that without the Beatles most of modern music would not exist. In the 1960s, I saw The Turtles with Frank Zappa at Beloit College. You could get high from the smoke coming off our reefers, but you didn’t have to, because of everyone passed around whatever they had. Each generation believes that it invents puberty and adolescence. They forget that their elders were once adolescences too. I am 75 years old. I do a lot of work with people who are in their 20s and 30s. But even those who are in their 40s and 50s still seem young to me. To avoid binaries, which are indeed odious, I use the Pareto Principle: 20% of the people are talented, 20% of the people are challenged, and 60% of the people are waiting for the 20% talented to tell them what to do. With this perspective you can see some politicians as being talented and odious at the same time. Which politicians do you find to be talented and what talents do they have that you admire?

In 2010 Mexicana Airlines, one of the world's oldest, bit the dust and all their pilots and flight attendants were put out of work, including my Mexican girlfriend (I was living in Cuernavaca). The loss of income made life very difficult for them. For most, that was the only skill they had, finding comparable work was nearly impossible, it was really tough and a lot of sacrifices had to be made. In 2015 Aeromexico made a deal with Delta, bought 40 airplanes and began hiring people from Mexicana. Everyone had to recertify. I helped Lupita study and she was in the second class to graduate. Everyone's families attended. To finally have work again was a huge relief and you never saw so many people crying with happiness! Even I cried a little! And for these events Aeromexico adopted a theme song. It was in English. One guess what it was!
