It’s production, not really RuPaul. Her part is pretty separate from the queens...that’s why you don’t see any photos of Ru chilling with queens outside of the show because it doesn’t happen. Which is kind of sad. The business model is great but obviously very exploitative.

Like you stated, the actors guild and the writers guild not only protects writers and actors, but provides medical insurance (guild insurance is bomb btw), basic legal services, and all sorts of resources. I'm pretty sure half the clauses in that World of Wonder contract is illegal. It would likely be easy to reverse the contract in court; the kicker is being able afford an attorney, since World of Wonder isn't paying you.

Don’t have my full law degree yet, but yeah. My thesis is in linguistic manipulation in the law and this contract uses a lot of what we call weasel words (uncertain terms), so you could likely win fighting a lot of this stuff. However, if wow really wants you, they’ll fight like hell, and let’s face it: unless you’re a queen who didn’t really need to go on the show anyway, you don’t have enough money to take on wow. Also, issues of law often take a LONG TIME to sort out. It’ll probably just take less time to ride out the year and hope people still care after. This is the same shit they pull w American idol and stuff like that. It’s a trap, for sure! So fans, make sure to support the dolls independently in any way you can!
