@@normnielsen yeah. It is the small things that can keep you from having headaches down the road. I have learned a lot and even the small things with my dad. He was a retired Chrysler master tech. Unfortunately I did not get all info from him before his passing.

@@340duster8 100% the worst part is their is ppl out their that don’t listen and think those old timers are crazy. But I’m the same way I’ve always hung out with ppl way older and learnt probably 90% of the things from them and then went to college after getting out of the military and learnt some of the same things they was teaching me all over again. And looking back like I went too college to learn things I was showed years back for free. Now don’t get me wrong I did learn at school but I’ve learnt a lot from ppl with knowledge and little tricks from them that schooling just don’t teach.

When I used to measure backlash on a 8.8 at the Ford dealership I was taught to measure off the top of the gear face with the dial indicator as close to 90 degrees as possible.
