I knew Sam was not just a car Detail guy. That ol’boy has been around. Anyone that raced a KZ900 is a Badass. I once raced bikes for awhile. That’s a special breed. I’m so glad he has finally got with a group of like minded people. I hope Cleetus and the crew helps Sam get his 55 together. Please help Sam live his dream of drag racing with friends. I think he has the money, he just needs the help fabricating and tuning the motor. Cleetus has the crew to help Sam for sure…. Best interview evert..
@ChristopherHallett

Why would he need help building a motor? He probably knows more about building motors than the whole Cleetus crew. Sure, he says he's not a wizard at EFI tuning, but then he doesn't have to fit EFI to his motor if he doesn't want to.

@@leighannvaal Thats an amazing story, you have a wonderful family! Sam really reminds me of a cross between my dad and grandfather, unfortunately cancer took my grandfather when i was pretty young but i still remember the crazy things he built and amazing stories he told me. I still have his K-bar combat knife from WW2 and the crest from his submarine, the USS Billfish. I have the crest hanging in my sons bedroom, its amazing i was able to meet him at let alone get the ships crest because if you look it up online the Billfish has an AMAZING story. They were a decorated submarine with many kills and tons of cargo sunk but after one mission they were caught by a Japanese destroyer who proceeded to brutally and continually depthcharge them. The Sub was taking on heavy water, leaking fuel oil, and had who the bridge(command) crew wiped out, So with the captain, first officer and rest of the bridge crew killed my grandfather the chief electrician and the chief engineer were the highest ranking crew remaining. So the engineer took command and my grandfather stayed in engine/battery room to make sure the incoming water didnt short out the batteries and kill the electric motors causing the wub to sink, he said the water was getting real deep and to further worsen the situation, since the submarine was leaking fuel oil it was leaving an oil slick showing exactly where they were going so the destroyer knew exactly where they were. So they ended up launching a punctured drum of oil out of the torpedo tube and going in full reverse to trick the destroyer and it worked! Once they got enough distance they surfaced and ran for the fleet and saved the sub and their lives. It always astonishes me the things these old school legends like Sam, your father, and my grandfather accomplished in their lives. I wish you all the happiness in the world and please spend as much time as you can with Sam and your father and give them a hug and a Coca-Cola for me haha.

Excellent interview, especially bring him out with your easy un doctor like personality. Mr. Sam the person most of wish we could have been, and the person humble enough to talk casually about what he's done, and what he wants to do in the future. How can you not like him, because he's your dad, and you're favorite uncle, are your grand pa all rolled into one. If we're honest with ourselves, those typically are our heroes in our lives as we're growing up. Rightly so, because we're hoping to be the person they'll be proud of when we're grown ourselves.

Machining has always been my passion. I'll never forget the time I walked into a machine shop as a driver,deburr,chip shoveler and all around shophand...and I saw a part being faced off and turned. I was immediately hooked and knew what I wanted to do for a living. I worked my way into inspection where I learned how to inspect parts to insure they were in tolerance. That was back in 1985 when CNC or in the early days NC machines. They ran off a tape with holes punched in it. I then went to a shop that would train me to run a machine.....a turret lathe. After 5 years of that I went on to running engine lathes and Bridge Port mills. I retired at 46 ten years ago and I still miss it.

how cool that he's such an experienced knowledgeable guy? sure the old timer neighbor hanging out is cool, but he's cooler than you? that's incredible. totally unexpected that Sam has been a hot rodder since the beginnings. Made a career out if it.

This man, at his age, being still being so humble and curious.. What a wonderful person. I personally find engineering and how things work so exciting in all capacities. I also try to soak up information others give us like a sponge. He understands that the knowledge we have is meant to be passed on to and be explored further by the next generation. We need more Sam's in this world

Thank you so stinkin’ much for the amazing video with Sam! He is such a great addition to the chain of channels (including yours of course!), my first 3 days of the Burst had me toss out a much more pricey brush, and by far the best one I’ve ever had. Not going to name it. It’s just so good! Sorry! But please get the crew to switch to better refreshments than what they typically choose. Preach my man!

I love the fact that you have taken time to learn about Sam and his journey to this point. It's amazing to me how much you can learn from an old guy that's lived it, still loves it, and hasn't checked out. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Parker what a great Q & A with Sam not only is he so knowledgeable but he is a wonderful communicator. The fact he wants to help the community and still keep learning along the way. Living his dream and certainly has earned it. From where he was just called Jame's neighbor. To Sam who is just wanting to impart his knowledge on others who share the passion. Parker you have befriended a wonderful person when a younger person befriends an elder and has the repour you share Knowledge can flow freely. Sam's willingness to help our community can only benefit every one. To Sam from the guy who was polishing up the cars Beautifully to finding out about the Knowledge you have and share. A Heart Felt Thank You Kind Sir. Dazza From Australia

In this fast paced life, he’s the type that us younger guys need to take the time and just talk with guys like him And the things that you can learn about life if you just listen would be amazing. Some of his inspirational quotes need to be put to good use!

This was an outstanding interview and being completely honest I could listen to Sam for hours because he's been there and done that. That man knows his stuff and has spent his life learning and moving forward not thinking he already knows everything and only talking about doing those things. He's been doing his whole life and learning as he's done it. The wisdom he could impart and the things he can teach are truly amazing...

That was awe-Sam! What a good guy who’s super experienced and knowledgeable about a ton of stuff. I really wish society would realize that so many of the older people are treasures and that they are so valuable and so much to teach us all about life. It’s a shame so many people focus on youth. Cheers Sam! Hope I get to buy you a Coke some day.
