Beating Minecraft's Hardest Modpack With Nothing // Episode 18 - Sky Falling, Power Rising

Neurotic Goose

18 күн бұрын

In this eighteenth episode of the series I solve the space-trash problem using a neon blue goose-juice powered rotary impeller, automate photosynthetic degeneracy - or possibly fertilization - by feeding an exclusively vegetarian diet to plants, create ever-more-powerful magic boxes, and vomit rainbows all over the floor.
GT - New Horizons is an intricately designed and custom-coded kitchen-sink style modpack built on the 1.7.10 version of Minecraft. It integrates hundreds of Minecraft's flagship mods into a Gregtech framework - completely overhauling the mods' traditional progression in the process, and radically rebalances any of the technologies those mods may offer.
Because doing things the normal way is 'too easy', I am following a ruleset based off of the (in)famous Garden Of Grind ruleset that places me in a completely empty superflat dimension. Every single resource I need, including blocks to stand on, has to be created out of nothing by finding clever workarounds and weird mechanics. Unlike in Garden Of Grind, I am not restricted to only my starting dimension - it's just that every other dimension starts out just as empty as my first one.
This pack is available on both the Curseforge and Technic launchers. You can also get the pack directly from the development GitHub.

You can get endoflames, any bee with flowers "flowers" will sometimes make burning blossoms on grass, which then immediately pop off and turn into a drop since they aren't on netherrack
@fractalgem
@fractalgem 17 күн бұрын
You would need a LOT of endoflames to rival that cluster of gourmarys. Like, probably 5 to 20 CUBES of them. The normal power of the endoflame is that its cheap, spammable, and eats dead simple to source fuel. Thus, if you have to jump through weird hoops to craft it, you may as well spam something else, like gourmarys or entryopynniums, and save fps/tps drain.

Not sure if you address this later in the video, but the teru teru bozu sends out a comparator signal when it starts raining. It also turns off the rain if a sunflower is just dropped on it. You can place the bozu > comparator > dropper and surround them with blocks to use WAY fewer sunflowers.

YOOOOO WE'RE AT THE METEOR STAGE LET'S GOOOOOOO My group is doing a normal run, but we've gotten away without making rockets past T1 all the way to UHV with those. We've got a huge array of world accelerated arcane bores, Redstone controlled to only run after a meteor launch, eating a meteor in about 15 seconds. Most fun resource generation mechanic I've seen in a modpack.

XP Drains are also able to collect xp orbs and deposit the fluid in a suitable fluid tank below them. Not sure if that would actually help in this situation, though, since the floor space is kinda already accounted for RE: diamond spike. Specifically blocks that have an internal EU buffer with any amount of EU in them will go kaboom if there is fire next to them. Blocks with a completely empty EU buffer will catch fire when exposed to rainfall, but will not explode. I would suggest Blood Magic's own complex spell system to get yourself a mining spell for cleaning up meteors, but if you're not summoning meteors *very* far away from anything and everything you have, do and will ever care about that is perhaps not the smartest choice one could ever make. BM mining spells are amazing, they also don't give much consideration to things like "maximum working distance" or "not uprooting half your AE2 system and sending it tumbling down into the void through a conveniently localized hole in the floor". Placing Potency/Velocity mana spreaders directly below mana pools (or manually configuring them to directly shoot mana pools with the absolute minimum travel time possible) actually makes them transfer mana at surprisingly fast rates. I'm not sure how much mana Gourmaryllis produce - and short of extensive testing and/or code diving I won't, because Botania's ingame documentation is about as mathematically inclined as a caveman is at quantum physics - but a mana spreader set up that way can support 53 endoflames by itself, so I'm going to assume they can support a non-zero amount of Gourmaryllis as well.

goose, the passive botania flowers can be automated; placed based on the block under what the "placer" plant in base Botania, or via many different block placers. You don't need to be told how to auto-craft the flowers, i think. Petals are easy enough to mass produce; place a petal, bonemeal, (shear in some versions) break the tall and then craft it into petals. Repeat until full ME. Infinite Hydroangeas (around a 3x3 water pool) will, as a water reactor stack, are worth it eventually. Gourmarylies' are better. But, passives ARE automatable.

It pains every single node of my AE network to see you use multiple Import/Export Busses on a single machine that could be solved with routing an interface. Also, since you‘re EV-ish, you can afford direct ME I/O Hatches (output for fluid and item, auto-pulling for items), which can store a factually infinite amount of stuff as long as there‘s no place to go. I automated HOG with clever routing (filtered storage busses). The latest version of GTNH (or from 2.6.x onwards) has a drone dock multiblock that can automatically send out drones to repair multis with a specific hatch replacing the maintenance. If you want to minmaxx, placing four MK1 Ore Drilling Rigs in range of the meteors yields an insane 6x on each single ore, but is slow. Use (centi-vis boosted) Arcane Bores from Thaumcraft to carve out meteors in less than a minute.

I just got into early LV for the first time in terms of making covers and stuff to use with my HP steam machines, but tbf i took a break from progression to scout a base location and build a long building that looks semi decent i can use for my first real factory in gregtech instead of just a machine shop style where i craft everything myself lol. I am just barely starting to hit the point where I can see the growing need to automate crafting but it's quite an initial resource and crafting barrier to entry for that first automation beyond hoppers 😅. I've played a ton of tekkit classic, voltz, etc when I was younger, and more recently games like Dyson Sphere Program... but there really is nothing else quite like GTNH.

Ah Botania, the mod that's big enough to make it into every kitchen sink pack yet is terrible enough to do almost nothing with. The real icing on the cake is how much time and effort the mod developer put in to making sure there was absolutely no way to automate the use of his flowers, because it was like those mods were stealing 'his effort', when he in turn stole 200 assets from Terraria and acted like he did original work that needs to be protected. It would be an absolutely incredible not-machine mod if someone were to rip out all the stupid, spiteful restrictions put in by a developer that hates other modders....
