Zorba the Greek, was first performed by the junior band of the Light Infantry school of music, back in 1976 at the Royal festival of remembrance Albert Hall .......The Queen "was amused" & stood up applauding!

Just brilliant lads and lassies ,lovely music and superb precision marching 120 to the minute, which must be so tiring even although you are very fit . Thanks for posting .

I thought Light Division bands Sound retreat, not Beat retreat...they have a bugle platoon to sound retreat rather than a drum platoon that beats retreat?

Me her Its because they're a guest in the beating retreat held by the foot guards

I have a question. I see they take very short steps, due to the fast speed. So, if you let march them a certain distance and another group the same distance at a normal pace with wider steps, which group will be first at the finish?

+Safra62 This is a show piece and on that particular occasion the band were confined to the area directly in front of the Royal Box where Her Majesty, The Queen was seated. Out "in the field" so to speak it would be an entirely different case, hence the name "Light" Infantry - speed and stealth was their raison d'etre. Good thinking though!

+householddivision1 Thank you for you kind answer to a German without any clue about military things! ;) Yes, I got that today it's a showband. And "speed and stealth" clarifies the origin!
