Some tips for another attempt: In civilization stage, you should claim all the spice geysers on your home continent as fast as possible. Use your speedy vehicles to do this. Making money fast allows you to fill out your cities (thus providing more profit), as well as purchase vehicles for capturing other cities. In space stage (if you decide to play it), complete a bunch of missions for other empires, especially the aggressive ones. Then, once you have enough funds, terraform you first colony world and fill out their cities. This should prevent nearby empires from being able to declare war on you, as you completed missions for them, and the more buildings you have, the more that seems to matter.

You're the first person I've seen use the double vehicle strat 👍 In my experience with civ stage if you spend all the starter money on pure speed land vehicles you can capture all the land spice on your continent before any other nation if you rush them. This will starve all nations on your continent and make them super easy to beat, giving you a huge head start in the stage.

The best way to beat hard city mode, war in spore, is to first, grab as many geysers as you can. Second, build up your city entirely so that it has max defenses, the highest spice production possible, and at least one positive happiness. Then, you have two types of vehicles, 1) where it's kitted 100% to speed, 0% HP, 0%atk. You use those to plant them outside the city. Then you have a second, 80% atk, 20% hp, and you use your entire fleet on one city immediately. If you are dealing with other aggros, talk to their city, and immediately bribe them. That will get them to stop attacking. Your first goal is to get 100% of your starting continent (usually only 4 cities) into your control. Then, you're pretty much guaranteed a win here btw, pick off the smallest cities with the least amount of well, cities. After 6 cities total captured including your main city, all you have to do is split 50-50 and start methodically erasing one city after another. Make sure to max spice production in each city, and at least have 1 positive happy. Usually it's easy to get three, but all you need is one.

Honestly spore is one of my favorite games, I was too young to get into the hype when it came out and so when I first played it I was blown away by the idea of designing my own creatures. Nowadays I play it more for nostalgia but it’s still fun.
