Ego has a new 52" battery mower- BUT Does it have enough power to tackle TALL WET THICK GRASS in a swamp? lets' see. It's the WORLDS only riding mower with a battery system compatible with all its power tools. so Lets see what it can handle.

Delivered a nice even cut, has the super tight turning ability kzbin.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend I was looking for, and is just a blast to drive. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!

We've got both the 42" and 52" Z6. Twice so far this season, I've got our 52 stuck in "Spider Alley" (don't ask) which is mostly a swamp after a decent rain. Both times I simply tied a rope from the 52, and ran it to the 42" about 30ft away, and easily pulled it out both times. It's crazy how powerful these are with enough traction. Wonder if we could put some heavy treaded tires on these things... anyone know where I might find something like that? Great review as all ways Stan!
@troy510
@troy510 2 жыл бұрын
Do they use different size tires than other zero turns use? I was thinking about getting one of these, But I'm not sure how long the batteries will run the mower for with all 6 batteries? Stan didn't really talk about it. But it seemed like he mowed for maybe around a couple hours at least in between filming and it had 33% left. I'm guessing it would go for at least 3 hours but not sure.

That's why you're seeing rear tracked designs just as is true on Farm Tractors going on forever now as standard. Great question! No need to wait on a proper towing vehicle now as well given both the Ford F150 Hybrid and now both Rivian R1T and Ford Lightning for commercial use. Plus Ford Hybrid Maverick might finally be hitting the dealer lots come September in volume. Really still in the first innings of the pure BEV revolution as still all about power output and not integrated charging infrastructure with solar as Tesla has been doing going on many Years now. Hybrid technology hasn't even made an appearance in this market as of yet but yes, absolutely I think the Ford F150 Hybrid and Ford Maverick are going to change that *BIG TIME* hopefully as soon as next year.

I'll keep my toro that I can mow faster without skipping or double mowing to get the height i want....and don't need an engineering degree and the patience of a nun to repair it if need be. It's nice that tech has advanced but it's not where it needs to be for me to even consider it. My commercial toro would of been a one pass cut with an edge pass to mulch the long stuff. Not to mention that I don't think this could handle, efficiently, row Mowing like most people do with a zero turn. You can hear and see if underperforming blowing grass away from the middle by circle path cutting....I think it would be a struggle row pattern cutting.

Friend of mine bought this mower with the smaller 42" deck. His wife side-swiped a t-post and cut a 1" gash in the tire sidewall in the first week on one of the back tires. First riding mower I've run into that had car-sized lug nuts and a 4-lug pattern rather than just riding on a shaft with bearings.

I think a mower like this should be the LiFePO4 battery chemistry. Much more resilient long term than typical lithium found in 18650 cells used in tool batteries. On a mower like this you could easily have 16kwh of lifepo4 that could be quick charged when on the trailer from a truck battery

Battery powered lawn mowers have no place in commercial lawn care business the batteries do not last long enough the mowers cannot take on 6 ft tall grass like exmark Scag bobcat or any other more out there that runs on gasoline or diesel they can't even take on what a Kubota can take on

Great video!!! As a lawn mowing business owner/operator, I would like to go electric with a zero turn….but the price of a mower that can do the job is a no go. The EGO 52” seems great for a homeowner with one lawn per week to cut, not for a business. The Toro revolution Z master looks like it has the run time for daily mowing, but at north of $35k, it will never pay itself off compared to the $ 8,000 zero turns that I make a living off of. If I was a young man with 25 years of mowing in front of me, I’d consider the E mower at 30 k….maybe. But at 65 I’ll never recoup the investment. However….I do use the EGO spin trimmer everyday. The Ego mower is on my trailer for any 21” push mowing. The blower is a carry on my zero turn saving a trip to the truck for a quick blow off as needed. I also ride a Specialized E-MTB. So my heart is into the battery stuff, but only if it is profitable. If EGO wants to send me a 52” zero….I’ll be happy to test it in my world and tell the world!!

Best advice I can give you take off the grass shoot and cut the piece that goes across the opening on the bottom... I also cut a piece that I just self tapered on top of deck to make it where the blade can't hit trees or anything deck has only ever clogged on me once since! It was horrible before u literally was about to pour a line of gas to the open gas tank one day!

We had similar issues. Found out the best way to mow (if you have the time) is to mow with the shield up, blow your cuttings into the uncut grass, turn around and cut the opposite direction whatever is left. Then repeat. Yes your mowing 2x but it looks good and if you have a good spot to blow the grass to on the final cutting it’s even better.

Hey man great info I myself just looked at over 50 zero turns and really wanted the zero emission zero turn like this one. But unfortunately I have to big of properties to cut so I ended up with a 2022 kubota 21 hp zero turn. I wanted the most fuel efficient one I could find and this kubota I purchased is but online they say it’s absolutely horrible on gas. I can’t believe it because it cost me 13.00 to use my push mower and my zero turn on roughly 6 acres of really damp grass. This video really helps people decide on a big purchase which is awesome keep it up.

I'm going into my 2nd season with the 42" Z6 and just love this thing. Noticed that you missed Travel mode which goes even faster. Sport mode and hold down the speed up button for a few seconds. I LOVE seeing you beat on this as I would not so much with a $5K mower. That said, my 15 year old does the lawn and drives it like she stole it. I also have a Fold-It garden cart that I put on the hitch to move stuff around. Bought the leaf collection system and doing leaves is actually fun for the first time ever. Anybody that comes to the house seems to love it and asks all about it. Overall just a fun toy that also does a bunch of stuff around the 1 acre property. I thing maybe you could test is how to CLEAN it. I'm afraid to power wash it since it's all electric. Take care, love this and your other reviews. Take care.

I wanted to try an Electric mowing brand and found Ego having a little sale in Lowe’s and I got a weed eater and a leaf blower. I actually wanted a weed eater as the ones I have were starting to give out after a lot of years of tough work. I didn’t think it was gonna be good but I just wanted something for the house that was gonna be easy for my family to use without having to prime it and do all the steps to turn the god darn thing on lol. To say I was impressed was an understatement. It was so light weight and quiet I didn’t use earplugs for the first time and it was kinda a relief!! So happy with it and now I’m going to look forward to replacing all my gas powered equipment that has done it’s fair share with new and modern electric power!! No the electric weed eater didn’t have nearly the same power output as my gas one but it served its job for regular every day lawn maintenance.

*** Heads Up **** If you want those hyper expensive Lithium batteries to last (on the Lithium powered models), never, ever run them down to below 10% and do not charge them up to 100%. Generally speaking, Lithium batts perform their best and last their longest when charged and ran within the range of 40-80% of their charge range, elsewise you'll lose a decent amount of their lifespan. Now you know.

I'm very impressed with the EGO 52 inch mower. Mowing the extra tall and thick grass and popping wheelies probably had anyone from EGO who watched this video, cringing. Mowing after a rain storm was a tough stress test. EGO must have some good engineers who developed this machine. My wife has a 3 year old EGO trimmer and it's done nothing but work flawlessly. I wish it had their new line IQ head. You, in no way, babied the EGO mower and that's what make your testing videos so enjoyable.

Okay I am new to your channel and I see we have two things in common right of the bat, #1 we both have the same last name Coggins (not a common name), and #2 we both had Chargers although the one I had was a new 1969 440 R/T, man what a hoot it was to drive that was. By the way that was a really good evaluation video.

I like how far it throws the clippings with the side discharge chute folded up. That looks like a good way to prevent clumps.

Curious what advantage the lower blades give... I've heard if you slow 'em down, they actually cut better. GB&GG

Awesome video, appreciate you showing the reality of assembly, waiting for my old trusty Kubota to croak before I get this, as all my other yard tools are all Ego, I have 2.5, 5, and 10Ah batteries. Their fixed carbon fiber shaft string trimmer easily also works as an edger, so much power. Tesla early adopter here, Ego is the Tesla of yardwork, shows how well engineered new tech is a winner all around.

is the 42" and 52" the same mower body with different decks or is the 52" actually bigger all around?

Stanley... We have 12 acres, approx. 10 are open fields, 1 scrub and one garden.. the fields are undulating, the garden is sloped like a bowl... I have someone cut the fields but TBH I want to do it myself.. Do you think the Ego would cope or do I need a fuel one.. OR because I have some slope should I go with a ride on tractor style ?.. looking for your opinion ?.... also have you tested any brush cutters ?.. DR and BillyGoat ?... have coyote bushes I want to mince also !.. Thx in advance... BTW... seriously the best reviews of the Battery ZT units I have found !...Guy

Don't buy a mower with a lithium pack. They all use lithium-ion tool batteries. Low capacity, low cycle life, and expensive. Much better off converting a lead acid mower to lifepo4

As one with several e bikes, I cringed when you knocked the one battery off the deck, treat them with respect! Like you would a jar of gas. Yes they are packaged/protected nicely, but still..... I just noticed it has backup lights when in reverse, be still my beating heart! You interuppted it's equealizing charge, stopping at 99%, all those individual cells in those 6 batteries need to work as one, leaving it plugged in for an hour or so AFTER it reachs full charge is the way to do that.

Over all. Not bad. How many batteries got me. I put USB charging points everywhere. That didn't really impress me. If I need one on my ridding lawnmower now. I put one on. Yet 6 batteries. Why I say that. An 12v lithium battery on an boat trolling motor standard. 5 hours or less run time. My small old but never used trolling motor on 2 20ah batteries wired my way with the solar not hooked up gotten at 30% power an straight 12 hour run time. Also solar charges up that battery pack. If not in the raft it's hooked up on my battery bank in my shop that is solar. That's 2 20ah AMG batteries. Would I buy it. What I can do with my standard gas ridding lawnmower and mixing it with technology. That one I could not. Yet I will keep it in mind. Thanks for showing. All my tools are battery, cord and gas. It depends what I am doing and the time of the day. I love modding everything I can. Again, thanks.

Our new cub cadet pro z 700 with a 60 inch deck and a 31 hp Kawasaki engine can mow basically any type of grass, but I am trying to get my stepdad to get us a walk behind version of that mower. Also, Stanley, if you want, you can come here to La Follette Tennessee and cut our grass with that mower. And our grass is very tall; thick and also it’s on a hill

I thought I was the only one that has to pull my zero turn out of my low wet areas sometimes. Now I use my MT100 Nice mower im thinking of selling my Grasshopper zero and going with an electric. Batteries being 500$ a piece is a downer since it takes 6 but comes with 4 at around 5k 😮

why would anyone out USB A on anything anymore? Especially on an expensive high tech equipment? Every mid to high end phone comes with a USB C charger for the last several years.
