Hey everyone!
I spent a lot of time researching these variations and I do genuinely think that this is the best way to counter the Jobava London. + some fresh lines that are very rare and challenging!
Hope you enjoy the video!

Love your opening analysis videos! Wanted to mention that the 10.g4 line after 14. Ng4 Qd8 white has 15. Nh6+ with a crushing attack, but after 9. Bd3 c5 10. g4, instead of 10. c4 Black can play the 10. Nb4 idea you mention with a good middlegame

Thank you for the correction! Yeah I completely missed that and I've edited the lichess study to include that line. The full line is: 1.d4 d5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bf4 e6 4.Nb5 Na6 5.e3 Be7 6.Nf3 0-0 7.Ne5 c6 8.Nc3 Qa5 9.Bd3 c5 10.g4 Nb4! (Removing the attacking bishop off the board, and if the bishop retreats to e2 then Nc6 would improve the knight) 11.g5 Nxd3+ 12.cxd3 Nd7 13.dxc5 Bxc5 14.d4 Nxe5 15.Bxe5 Be7 16.h4 Bd7 ⩱ (Black has good play with Rac8 and even f6 to neutralize the e5 bishop and open up the f-file as the white king isn't as safe as it seems) Instead of 10:25 10...c4?! 11.g5 cxd3 12.gxf6 dxc2 13.Qh5 Bxf6 14.Ng4 Qd8 15.Nh6! gxh6 16.Rg1+ Kh8 17.Qxh6 Bd7 18.Kd2+−→

Excellent work. Just one comment at 36.28 White can play 15.Rfc1 the d3 pawn does not need defending because of the old trick 15...Qxd6?? 16.Nxd5 So 15.Rfc1 Rac8 16.Qd1 and I have this as equal.

A very thorough analysis as always, in several lines with e6 it is White who has slight problems in proving complete equality. I would like to know your opinion about the main alternatives to e6 and why you find them less attractive than the one presented in the video, in particular, 1. Nc3 d5 2. d4 Nf6 3. Bf4 a6 and 1. Nc3 d5 2. d4 Nf6 3. Bf4 c5 4. e3 (4. e4) 4... cxd4 5. exd4 a6. Keep up the good work ^^

I chose this approach specifically because of my positional & principled style which aims to diminish early complications and not needing a lot of sharp memorization :) - Specifically I chose not to opt for systems with g6 as white often castles long and plays for h4-h5. - I also chose not to recommend 1. Nc3 d5 2. d4 Nf6 3. Bf4 a6 because of 4.e3 e6 5.g4! recommended by Niemann which creates some threats immediately and discourages 0-0. Black has hard decisions to make of whether the principled 0-0 is safe or not. - I think that 1.Nc3 d5 2. d4 Nf6 3. Bf4 c5 4.e4! is the main reason that I avoid recommending 3...c5 as I think that it's unnecessary to bring on early complications which just gives an equal game anyways. 1.Nc3 d5 2. d4 Nf6 3. Bf4 c5 4.e3 cxd5 5.exd5 a6 would be a nice exchange slav for black with the knight on c3 blocking the c-pawn. A good suggestion if white were forced to enter this line, but 4.e4 is what white is hoping for these days.

@@garudapurachess Thank you for your detailed answer, it has resolved all my doubts. Today, when engines are so powerful and almost everything equalizes, it is more important than ever to pay attention to the lines that we discard for human reasons (whether psychological, practical or a mixture of both). I normally play 3... c5 and in the last months I have seen a huge rise in popularity of the 4. e4 line, going from 5-10% to a solid 25-30%. I assume that soon it will become the main line, even if it is for a short period of time.
@garudapurachess
@garudapurachess 9 ай бұрын
@@miguelramos9187 yes absolutely! Clicking the space bar on the engine is easy, but looking at all of the options & finding the best human approach is important :)

Heyy I have a suggestion for an analysis video about the closed sicilian for white. The line i'm talking about is: 1. E4 c5 2. Nc3 d6/e6/nc6 3. D4 cxd4 4. Qxd4. I think it is a pretty rare line and was very interested in your analysis.

do you play g6 too as black? i often see london players start the move order with 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bf4 g6 only then play Nc3 and castle queenside after they know black fianchetto the darksquare bishop if black is not fianchettoing the bishop then they just go with casual london with castle kingside and maybe c3 and Nd2
@garudapurachess
@garudapurachess 9 ай бұрын
I personally don’t play g6 systems often just because of my preference, but I also think that against the London system it’s best to go for a d5 setup with a quick c5 advance (1.d4 Nf6 2.Bf4 d5 3.e3 c5) which should equalize but black does need to know some sharp lines after 4.Nf3 Nc6 5.Nd2 Qb6 6.dxc5 Qxb2 7.Rb1 Qc3. Setups where white plays c3 and Nd2 are generally very comfortable for black.

Interesting video;I play the KID and usually get g6 on the 3rd move instead of e6 .I would like to see that considered instead of your ..3e6 as the move order I often face is 2.d4 ..g6 3.Nc3 d5 so there is no e6 option.
@garudapurachess
@garudapurachess 5 ай бұрын
Well it’s interesting that even as a King’s Indian player, you can still have this system in your repertoire because with the Jobava London or classical London system, white shows their cards early and you can play 2…d5 anyways. For example 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 and best is to play 2…d5 and get a fine game, you just need to know something against 3.Bg5 which is not critical. Against 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bf4 you can still play 2…d5 and equalize much easier than with 2…g6 which is okay but gets a more complicated game. There is a simple system against the London which equalizes easily involving e6 first followed by c5, followed by Bd6 and Qc7 to aim for the e5 advance and delaying the b8 knight’s development as it often goes to d7 instead of c6! I’ll make a video on this system soon. There is a reason why I don’t like the g6 system against the Jobava london, which is specifically because of Niemann’s recommendation in his course that I mentioned in another comment involving an early g4 advance. I think that this is a very principled recommendation that I provide 👍

Thanks for the good videos. against the 9. Be2 Ba3! 10. ba3 Ne4! might by simple and even better 11.0-0 Nc3 12.Qd2 b6 13. h5 f6 14. h6 g6 with no attack and looks much easier to play with black. Also against Bortnyk's 7.Ne5 Ne4! threatening c6 might be good 8. f3 Nf6 now the white queen doesn't go to h5, with a small advantage for black.
@garudapurachess
@garudapurachess 7 ай бұрын
I think that 9.Be2 Ba3! 10.bxa3 Ne4 leads to a bit less clear of positions as after 11.Ng5! Qxc3 12.Kf1 Black doesn't want to take on g5 to open up the h-file, and allowing Nxe4 is not a structure that I like for black at all 12...f6 13.Nxe4 dxe4 14.h5 black is forced to play 14...h6 and white has all to play for in such an unclear position and many problems for black to solve. The 7.Ne5 Ne4! is interesting and definitely playable, a very interesting nuance to add is the provocation of f3, nice find. I didn't look into that unfortunately since I wanted to keep the recommendations with similar themes in both 7.Ne5 and 7.h4 :)

Not very experienced with Jobava London as I don't generally play d5 but after 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.Bf4 e6 4.Nb5 I would think 4. ... Bb4+ 5.c3 Ba5 followed later by c6 or a6 and Bc7 would put an end to some of the sillyness 😂 Engine seems to agree : nothing to see here!

The Jobava is respectable & full of tricks if you’re not careful! That line is interesting but after 6.a4!? a6 7.b4 axb5 8.axb5 becomes dangerous, though it is playable if you have enough prep. Be careful about assessing positions by looking at the engine since not all equalities are the same
