BEATING THE ODDS: CELEBRATING 10 YEARS WITH MULTIPLE MYELOMA (CANCER)

Today, August 6th, 2024, was supposed to be the day that I died. On November 4, 2013, I got diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (MM), a very rare, incurable cancer. MM forms in a white blood cell called a plasma cell, inside the bone. You don’t feel anything, but it slowly eats away your skeleton until one day you break a bone and voila! Cancer. In the United States alone, it is estimated that .01% of the population will be diagnosed in 2024.
They gave me 10 years. Went through chemo and a stem cell transplant. The day the stem cells are infused into your body, they say you are “born again”, and from that day forward you get to celebrate two birthdays. That day was August 6, 2014. That’s the day I decided the countdown began.
Today I’m “healthy”, feeling good and surpassing my “expected expiration date”. Haha! Instead of a party, I decided to make this video to commemorate this event, to celebrate this joyous occasion!
Hit play, and enjoy! My hope is that it will inspire others going through this or any other health struggle to keep fighting! Getting a disease is not the end of the world. You (and I) are not the only ones. Stand up! Adapt. It’s a change of perspective, be grateful and enjoy life! Spend time with those special to you and above all, appreciate the time you have. Yo llevo 14 años con la enfermedad! He pasado por varios protocolos de quimioterapia, transplante de médula osea y lo último, un CAR-T, Chimeric Antigen Receptor Therapy. Es parecido a un transplante de médula pero es más suave para el cuerpo. Never ever quit!!!...
