Maybe more prep for you, Idk...in game 2 after move 7 where you fork the queen and bishop and defend mate, White has only 4 "safe" squares for the queen: b3, c3, g3, and f4. Qh5 looks good at first, but after Black replies Qf6 defending the knight and adding protection to f7, the White queen can't hang around long as she is 2 moves from being trapped. First, the "quiet" h6, which prevents Bg5 as well, and then g6, when the White queen's only retreat is back into the "box" you trapped her in with Bg4...after which mate should be forcing again, I believe. Going back to the other 4 "safe" squares: f3 and g4 hang the bishop...so b3 or c3 seem to have been White's best moves in the game. Both remove the queen from the fork and protect the bishop. b3 forms a battery which, of course, Black can disassemble immediately by taking the bishop, or allow if they deem their own knight too valuable to trade in this position given all it does to attack White's king. c3 "threatens" the Black knight. In these cases, the White queen finds herself misplaced on the queenside of the board defending a minor piece away from the action. Hence, it would appear your opponent's attempt to Scholar's Mate you in response to your Stafford Gambit was ill advised all around.

I've been playing Stafford against players at my level (~1500) on Lichess recently and even though the main traps rarely work out, the opening is still off-putting enough for people that I usually end up winning. Even had one player complain about Eric Rosen in the chat while losing to my Stafford. I was like "if you know the trap, why are you losing to it?".

The Stafford is unsound and it's not so hard to refute it. It's significantly less sound than the Boden-Kieseritzky in the 3 Knights game, which Morphy played a few times in the days before proper defensive theory was worked out. The ideas are similar.
