I can't stand when people resign, a lot of the time. If your opponent has an imminent mate then let them execute it, don't ruin the fun by resigning. If you made a blunder in the first ten moves just keep playing and try to turn it around, don't resign.
@speedstyle.3 жыл бұрын
@@amaryllis0 Depends on the game. If it's an actual endgame, and you're just playing it out in hope of a stalemate or flag, that's a bit disrespectful. If you're about to be mated by some nice positioning then yeah it's nice to give them the ending.
@amaryllis03 жыл бұрын
@@speedstyle. I personally dislike cheesing it so your opponent flags despite having a winning position, but I wouldn't say it's always bad, because time management is an important skill too. I don't agree that it's disrespectful to play for stalemate. If you resign here, you're cutting out an important part of the game - checkmate, especially piece mates - and allowing your opponent to not have to learn and practice it At GM level, sure it's disrespectful, but at amateur level? Nah
@speedstyle.3 жыл бұрын
@@amaryllis0 Yeah I personally go all the way because I'm like 1000 (there's a 50-50 chance that they do stalemate). But at a higher level I think it could be a little disrespectful. Flagging less so, winning on time is fair enough.

I am analyzing some of these lines in my Stafford study on lichess and from the position after move 10, 2:23 timestamp , the engine has black at -9.3 if white makes the best move which is to to sack both the bishop and queen for whites rook on the h file, that's how strong that rook is (11. Bh5...Rxh5, 12. Qxh5...Qxh5, 13. d4...Bxd4) killer trap variation for black to be basically won in 10 moves with white playing fairly intuitive and natural looking moves

In the position at 5:34, there is a fun line (haven't checked with an engine though) instead of taking on e2 playing b5+, Kxc5 Qg5+, and if Kb4 (Kxc6 Bxe4X) then a5+ Kb3 (Kc3 ends in the same way but quicker after Qc5+) a4+ Ka3 b4+ Kxb4 Qb5+ Kc3 Qc5+ Kd3 Bh5+ Ng3 O-O-OX. It would be a fun exercise to try to find in that position a way to force mate with O-O-O, but I haven't found a way. For example in this line, if you take on c6, or if you go Ka3 instead of Kb3 or Kc3, there is a quick mate, but no way to force a mate with O-O-O, I think.

@4:38 the moment I saw the position my instincts were screaming b5 to cut off the escape route of the king. My instincts were telling that giving up the white square bishop is a necessary sacrifice. So, I decided to analyze the position and what I saw is a series of forced moves leading the white king going back to e4 and a mate. In case that white decided to move other pieces, white would be crushed thoroughly and painfully accept its doom.
