I remember hearing this song when I was like 13 after having my first alcohol infused mudslide at a tropical resort in the Grand Caymans, like "wtf is this?" and watching all these adults get lose on the dance floor and thinking "this is inappropriate"... Oh how innocent..... haha

I use to hit clubs in town when there was live bands rock and country, one band played this and the crowd went wild. Good stuff, miss the 80s with bands with instruments that takes so much talent. Dj stuff just ain't the same and rap and hip hop all computer generated sounds, no instruments. Watching guitar players and drummers get into it is fun to watch...

I only was able to discover this amazing man and this amazing song because of this: here in Spokane, when I was growing uo, the cable TV company here was called Cox Cable. They had a number of rather... unique... channels. One was this local thing where you could call a local number and request a song from a long list. I think it cost 50 cents per song? They added it to the cable bill. Then they'd play the song from the code you dialed. It would then put you in a que until they played your selection. My mother put a $20/month limit on me lol otherwise iI'd go nuts. So much fun. This was about '91 or '92.

After growing up in the boondocks and listening to all kinds of music my parents went to Spain for a month. Anyway I was 12 years old so my 18 year old sister was watching over me. So her boyfriend wanted to take her to see somebody called Clarence Carter. My sister knew of him and told her boyfriend that I'd have to come along. He agreed especially as my sister was 5ft.8 inch tall 110 lbs. unknowingly to me was extremely gorgeous. Anyway after getting to the outside concert near Stone Mountain Georgia my sister's boyfriend showed me the finer things of life while my sister wasn't watching. He brought a plastic milk jug a large container of bootleg in his long jean jacket with inside pockets capable of brining lots of the finer things of life along. Long story short the milk jug was to pee in due to the outside concerts bathrooms we're far away. It was pitch dark and he snuck me several sips of bootleg and he had other things that may have been alittle bit illegal to law enforcement. So after he showed me the finer things of life while my sister wasn't watching I ended up getting close enough to Clarence Carter that I could have jumped up on stage. About four feet away from Clarence. I'd never heard his music before this concert, but I knew one thing I was going to get his record the following day. The last song was Stroking and everyone in the crowd was yelling STROKING!!!!!! Over and over. He acted like he was finished singing the lights even went out on the stage. About a minute went by and then in the pitch dark He started this song Stroking. The lights came back on the crowd went crazy beyond anything I'd ever seen. Several girls white black Chinese Spanish were taking their bras off and throwing them on stage. Again, I'm only 12 years old. Several of the girls surrounded me lifting their shirts up. Tittys everywhere. Several girls rubbed their breast on me knowing that I was just a young boy. But after a few rubs my pants starting bulging like a steel rod. The girls knew it and started rubbing their butts all over my Woodrow. I'll stop now but I had to tell ya everything so you'd understand why Clarence Carter will always be one of my greatest singer's. By the way my sister realized that I'd been drinking and doing other things that may be alittle illegal to law enforcement once when we headed home. I was in the back of my sister's boyfriends 1970 SS 396 Chevrolet Malibu. High performance engine with convertible top fortunately for him. Traveling back home with the top down I tapped his shoulder and pointed to my mouth something he said to do if I was getting sick. Anyway after pulling over at a rest stop I started getting rid of everything in my stomach including several inches of my gut,it felt like before we actually stopped the car. The next morning my sister came in my bedroom and woke me up and said get up and let's go get your Clarence Carter album. On the way my sister said that if I ever mentioned this concert to anyone she'd beat my brains loose. So please don't tell anyone about this story, thanks. I be stroking.
