the 'flat planes' are a Speke Aviation Heritage museum. The power station in the distance as you took off is Fiddlers Ferry - now decommissioned. I remember back in the 70's in a huge storm, one of those cooling towers fell down! In the UK those co-op gardens - we call them allotments. You can rent them from the local council and have been used for many years to grow vegetables to feed your family, especially in wartime.

That ferry terminal, has a tall square building next to it. There’s one on the east side too, opposite. They are ventilation shafts for the ‘new’ Mersey tunnel: Kingsway. Opened by the Queen in the 70s. A similar looking building behind the Three Graces, is the vent for the ‘old’ Mersey Tunnel: Queensway, opened by the king in the 30s. There’s another one opposite in Birkenhead on the west side.

Seaforth Container base by Crosby, was limited in its expansion by someone who built a nature reserve & lake. That’s immediately north west of the container port and called Crosby Marina.

This was awesome. You nearly flew over my house when you first crossed the river to the wirral ,i live right on the waterfront half mile left of Tranmere oil terminal where you turned(and yes you said Tranmere correctly) i fish at fort perch rock 😃 and also on the sand bars for smooth hounds when the tide is out... And it goes out about 2 miles , 10 meter tide here. Right by the crazy golf is where my radio controlled boat club meets on sunday mornings. I think our promenade is the longest in the world, from my house i can ride my ebike about 20 miles along the beach on the cycle lane ,its flat too which is always nice pulling my trailer of fishing gear. I also have bricks on the shore outside my house from the bombing, wirral took it pretty bad too being shipyards, my front garden was a polish anti air gun site ,perfect to get them as they used the river for nightime navigation. That U boat used to be in one piece just laying on the side of the road for years, Right outside the warehouses used for the rave in the Samuel L Jackson movie 51st state. Loads of us were in that movie , and the movie 'away days' ...and the tv series 'watching' always used us grubby little street urchins 😂 oh and the tv series 'Bread' . Great place to live especially with the city skyli as the view from my bedroom window. And the boats are absolutely spot on 👌🇬🇧 as i say i loved this cheers👍

Glad you enjoyed it! Have they finished the new stadium on the other side of the river yet?

No not yet, theres a couple of locals who make vids with drones to show the progress. Was talking to my mum about it the other day when we had a storm and extra high tide on the same day, i think its a future insurance scam, the sea regularly comes over the sea wall there and will flood if the wind is strong enough, if they build it for say ten million and insure it for 20 ,on the next 50 year storm they get double their money back, im shocked a surveyor didn't tell them to jog on building it there at sea level on the wager front facing west.

One point of interest which you cant of known is the flag pole outside of anfield, it is the top mast of the SS Great Eastern, the worlds largest passenger ship in 1858.

Those planes are in a museum. It’s now behind a Marriott hotel which was the old control tower, terminal building, and (on an external flat roof, viewing area. At 7, in 1963, I paid 3pence to get up there to a man who took the money at the staircase entrance. I got the 500 bus on my own from Walton to Speke which cost 7 pence each way. 240 pence in a pound in those days. The first jet passenger service was a BAC111. Those planes are parked on the old ‘apron’ where passengers embarked and disembarked. Toward the river were two runways. Sitting on the balcony looking toward the river, one was extreme left travelling to the right. Possibly 250°, the other extreme right travelling to the left, maybe around 120°? A little shop on the balcony and part of the tower sold sweets and ice cream. Most planes were propeller based. Vickers Vicount. And others. Until recently, the hotel maintained a model Dragon Rapide on the main road side as a historic centre piece. I’ve actually flown in one at Caernarfon in Wales. But scary… the emergency exit was above my head near the back. It was a big round hole cut out of the wood frame in the fat ceiling. You’d have to punch your way through the fabric outer skin to get out!

The ‘latitude and longitude’ buildings are on Mann island and are residential and office buildings. Just over the road you have the old white star line head offices. I believe (could be wrong) some members of the band who famously perished on the titanic were assigned the appointment from that building. Either way the titanic, and many others were registered to Liverpool. Great video, you covered our city (and surrounding areas) beautifully.

Great flight, as always. Tiny correction, st Peter and Paul is a church not a school. It wasn't bombed during the war as it was a nav aid. Birkenhead Park was the inspiration for many city parks, including in New York. If you haven't reached trivia saturation.

I can't believe someone else like flying over Liverpool, I was a Penny lane/ smithdown Rd lad and went to Dovedale school, then secondary and collage in Liverpool, often found standing in the Kopp in Anfeild and then moved to London in my early 20's, were I still live and this video is making me home sick. The plan house in Sefton is one of the oldest Victorian Green housed for non native plant and flower festivals

Welcome home! Thanks for the backstory on the greenhouse. 🤓
@imellor7112 ай бұрын
@MSFSFlightPlans no probs, the park behind the houses near Dovedale school, and on Penny lane, was where Liverpool youths/ u18 football team trained/home ground played and as kids it was the only Green area in a mile, you weren't allowed to play on it, however during school holidays you found a way. The old football ground is now a public remeral garden. The allotments are dotted over the city,which you rent, stick a shed on it, to grow your own veg. The Rover plan near Speke is the UK Fords plant, The power station past speak of oggie shore, called chemical shores where a band called a indie band called the Stone Roses played on a make shift stage the bridges old Green hump back one, called Runcorn Bridge and the new one called the Mersey Gateway Bridge. The tower building on the wirral side near the Mersey Ferry port,west side if the river, is the stunning old pump room and air shaft on the Wirral side of Queensway Tunnel, one of two tunnels that go under the river. I hope it helps and you get a chance to visit you must, it's a great city. Matthew stret is where thecnew& old Cavendish night clubs user to be with the new/ current being the replica from the old club acroos the road, which now a NCP car park. But Matthew Street has or had a load of pubs and was like our own temple bar area in Dublin, but in Liverpool. Walton Park Manor house I'd called Pub in the park which worth reading up about. Pluse the Manor House is called Speke Hall shrouded in history and secret passways. Again, it's worth researching.

I did check out the details of Speke, that place is VERY cool. And very old. There is not a single timber structure that old in the US.

@peter-e2q2 ай бұрын
St George’s Hall was actually built the wrong way around! The gardens should be facing Lime Street Station. It has a beautiful floor which is usually covered up except for special occasions. And it was also a court building.
