That Turkish "Today... and Yesterday" has the weirdest tracklisting... Side one ("today"): "My Sweet Lord", "Mull of Kintyre", "Girls' School", "Imagine", "Oh Yoko!", "No. 9 Dream", and side two ("yesterday"): "Dr. Robert", "Hello Goodbye", "Yesterday", "What Goes On", "Day Tripper", "The Ballad of John and Yoko", "Act Naturally". Reminds me of a playlist on shuffle.

The Spanish Polydor pressing w Tony Sheridan shows Ringo on the cover. Wasn't it Pete Best on the drums? Another cover to collect is the Swedish All My Loving EP with Beatles sitting on an old canon, quite rare.

I just found the strangest records yet. Maigcal mystery tour when it launched (the LP), last three songs were in duophonic, in mock stereo. Well, I just purchased a Yugoslav pressing, probably from 1977, where Penny Lane and Baby you're a rich man are in duophonic, YET All you need is love is in stereo. What in the hell.

I've known some Beatles collectors who adamantly refuse to allow people to so much as SEE their collections. So this was nice. However, it also brought out the nerd in me as I thought to myself, "Hummm... He's a little rough when he takes out some of those records."

8:24 Francis got it wrong; that’s the Australian pressing. Beatles for Sale was pressed identically to the UK issue in New Zealand, complete with the gatefold. What he has is probably a New Zealand-contracted pressing, which explains the NZ labels, but pressed for the Australian markets nonetheless

Yes. I'd seen some of these covers before, but it's still nice to have a look at them again, along with ones I hadn't seen before. I tbink that cover of Help with ghe much bigger letters makes a lot more sense than that sort of Woolworths looking cover they had in the UK. I think it's the worst design of all of them.. Never liked it.

Thank you for another video featuring Francis! I hope his collection will stay together. It seems like that would increase the chances of long-term preservation of these things. Is there any official, public Beatles archive/museum in the world? Bob Dylan has an archive in Tulsa, OK. The Beatles would obviously merit an institution of their own, if they don't have one already. (Maybe in Liverpool?) Or maybe the collection could be bought by the British Library or something. Of course, Francis surely has a plan and does not need my input. As we get older, it seems we tend to realize more and more that we are merely custodians of the things we collect, holding them for a time, then passing them on to others who will care for and about them after we are gone.

I really enjoyed seeing all these various editions of Beatles albums. The only Beatles albums (well…sort of…) that have been seen by me to be somewhat distinctive were the 1976 Pickwick album with Tony Sheridan (with the Beatles referred to as “The Beat Brothers”) and those “Live from the Star Club” bootlegs they released in the late 1970s. It was gratifying to hear one or two of the Tony Sheridan/Beatles songs released in the “Beatles Anthology” CDs.

One of the saddest days for a friend of mine who was broke and had to sell off records to pay a tax bill was selling his copy of The Beatles Hottest Hits, certainly one of the coolest non-standard covers out there. Sadly, I couldn't afford what it was worth at the time, so I didn't get to "keep it in the family" as it were.

Thanks for a return to Francis' collection, Andrew! Lots of fascinating records, for sure. I owned the Netherlands "Beatles Greatest" compilation-- I bought it at a department store here in the midwestern USA in the late 1970s. I believe Capitol/EMI themselves sold imports here of EMI product from around the world, as I seem to recall an "imported to the US by EMI" sticker on the outer plastic wrap. That particular album also has the version of "All My Loving" with the five-count-in at the beginning of the track.

I have that Dutch too. Bought it at the record store. Mine was a JEM import. If I recall there were around 5 or 6 importers we dealt with at the time. I have a 1981 German Ariola Contract pressing that has the EMI embossed marking on the cover. It too has the high hat beginning on All My Loving.
@TheHutt

Actually, it's a German compilation (the Dutch version is just reusing German metal parts). Most notably, it uses the hihat-intro-version of All My Loving that made its appearance on the German stereo version of WTB and wasn't known to the wider world until the From Liverpool box came out.

4:05 - The 'Book Club Editions' albums with 1967 era pictures are great! 9:14 - Records from East Germany, now that's a thing! 5:40 - The Swiss cover of 'Help' is so much better than the original, which is mostly - white. 6:14 - 'Today & Yesterday' & close-up of Sgt. Pepper pics session from Turkey is great! 10:04 - 'Eskimo' Beatles from Denmark! :-) 11:35 -'Por Sempre' from Spain has great psychodelic cover. 'Canciones de Amore' has a nice inside picture-portraits. 12:51 - The album from Italy with 'wrong' artwork. 16:03 - The 'moustache' Beatles. :-) Blue Parlophone label is very appealing. Andrew, you might make a video with a topic 'Best Artwork of the Beatles' albums around the world.'

A great collection for sure. I can’t help but think that the more I see of these international covers, the more I appreciate the original UK covers. That Israeli “Beatles Greatest” cover has to be the oddest of the bunch. It’s almost as if they had a fan artwork contest and used the “best” submissions to design the cover. I’m hoping you gently suggested to Francis that he replace those PVC sleeves. Some of them looked pretty wrinkled and are likely off-gassing. 😉

@@scottroberts3011 I've done "some" research into that one. You probably know that it was originally scheduled to be released in mid 1963 but Vee-jay changed plans on it because of their money problems I suppose. I'm kind of guessing that they did not print any covers at all for it until 1964. They did some quick maneuverings to create something, anything to get it out for sale. The (Blank back) vinyl copy that I have has etched in the dead Wax as being pressed in 1963 but then they must have stored them away until 1964. There is more to it than what I've said. Speaking of an international vinyl rarity, would you consider doing a video on the Maybe Tomorrow LP, by The Ivies? I had been wanting one of these for years, and finally bought an Italian pressing off Discogs. (Slipping into old geezer mode for a minute.) I remember back in the 80s, when Rockaway Records ran big showcase ads in Goldmine. They always had multiple copies of that My Bonnie LP, but I never wanted to spend big money for records back then. Looking through this video, there are a few I was unaware of. I had only seen fakes or reissues of The Beatles in Italy. I had never seen the inside of the gatefold before. I count a dozen of these pressings or comps in my own collection, I have found digging in the wild years ago, not buying on the collector's market, or online. Thrift stores, yard sales, used record bins, etc. I also have a couple unusual South American solo records too, plus a couple of Beatles pressings from Denmark, and New Zealand not shown. The dedicated digger could always count on finding stuff like this, in the wild, every now and then. But there are a lot of records you never see anymore from the 50s to the 80s. Good records are drying up, all over the world, and if you want quality vintage vinyl, buying online, or at big record shows is your only option. The golden age of crate digging is over. Newer colectors will never know what it was like.

Incredible I saw a very brief shot of a red and cream coloured plastic beatles guitar in the musium.... I used to have one of those absolutely no idea what happened to it 😢.... One of my favourite videos to watch is the Beatles in Japan when John & George are rocking the Ephipone casino guitars they sound amazing..... Thanks for this video what an incredible museum credit to that guy..... 👍😊

just curious - the Japanese MMT is shown on the Apple label - see obi but the 1st pressing is still on Odeon. Am I wrong as the presenter clears states "original"? Maybe he means it is a 1st Apple pressing release but not the first actual pressing.

Pretty interesting and original choices throughout the world. I would have expected someone like Francis to have the German ZTOX PPM (instead of a pretty standard Tanzschaffe one) in his collection - those were exclusively made for foreign forces' own shops, had the proper EMI staircase cover and are rare as hell. BTW, those early albums in France are pretty bitchin' in terms of having different titles and cover designs, too. :)

As much as I admire Francis's collection (treasure trove would be a better word), I would have welcomed a commentary on the records many of which were presented out of their temporal order and irrespective of status as originals or reissues/variants or even later cash-ins such as the Turkish Today and Yesterday compilation. So this was something like a very superficial sightseeing tour, and all you remember when you return to your hotel for dinner is a load of colourful covers of Beatles records you never saw before. A wasted opportunity, in my view, although I certainly recognize that a full commentary would have been far too long for a single video. Still ... nice to get to see all this.

Maybe the 2.5 hours of content we published from this museum didn't cover every single item in detail, but it's not what I'd call 'superficial'.

@@Parlogram I'm not complaining about the previous more than 2 hours, I'm just saying that flipping through ultrarare records, each of which would merit extensive comment, is not as satisfying to me as your background stories and in-depth information we all admire in your usual videos. You may think that I don't appreciate the tremendous work you put into this project, from finding out about Francis via going to France, arranging for and taking videos for hours, and condensing all that footage for this platform. Far from it. Yes, I can see now that it would have been difficult to add information about the records without interrupting the original video (you added a printed comment in some places). I'm thinking of fans who don't know every record on earth and might find it helpful to haves ome guidance. I'm not thinking of those who have some expertise and say, ah, this is the stool-cover edition of The Beatles' Beat, and it's terribly rare, beware of counterfeits, or, this is the Israel Beatles in Italy, but was it pressed in Israel?, or this is the second cover of the Amiga Blue Album, but it was a single album in the GDR, etc. It's just a minor complaint on my part, please don't take it too seriously.

@@aureliande2659 I understand the desire for in-depth analysis on the records shown in this video, but that was just not possible at that location. Nor was it the aim of the series as a whole. Videos going into level of detail you are asking for have to be researched and produced in a different manner. It is also important to keep in mind that not every Beatles fan is a collector. The channel's main aim is to strike a balance between information and entertainment, which I hope we manage to achieve most of the time.
