Merry Christmas Melinda. This is a very nice review of your favorite albums and many of them have found their way to my collection. I have a modest collection of rock albums and have listened to the majority of them many times. I've been listening on my Technics SL-1200 Mk5 for 18 years and I decided to give myself a Christmas gift. I just ordered a Technics SL-1210G with an Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge. I'm really looking forward to listening to them all over again! My best to you and your family!

Hi Melinda, I rarely get the chance to comment, because I'm typically watching late evening on a television, and haven't figured out how to "like" or comment with the remote...may give a hint of my age(lol). I've been collecting LP's since 1975-college days, and have approximately 4000 at this time. I tend to go through stages of interest, and I've experienced another surge in the last few years due to the ability to find rare or hard to find vinyl through Ebay etc, and you've motivated me in various ways to take this, one of my main hobbies, more seriously. I recently purchased an ultrasonic record cleaner (I used a Discwasher forever) and began re-sleeving my collection with higher grade materials than the typical paper sleeves. I've also started to catalog on Discogs; a daunting task that would probably take years, but at least I've made a good start. We have a great deal in common when it comes to musical taste; I'd say you're more refined than I-especially with equipment and the "audiophile" aspect of the vinyl, but I'm always thinking "me too" when I watch your videos. You're an "old soul", that's easy to see and I look forward to all of your video work. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Hi Melinda, I love this video you had a lot of goodies here. I love the song for Dan Fogelberg I played the 45 to Same Lang Syne and posted it on my Instagram page yesterday. That song was played a lot by the radio stations where I live growing up. It tripped me out because I looked him up and saw that he had passed away on December 16, 2007. I also loved the Duran Duran Decade Album. I used to have the VHS for that and my friends were jealous😆 Anyways Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I recently cleaned, re-sleeved and re-organised my vinyl collection. I wasn't sure how many I had but it is close to 400. They have been alphabetised by artist into crates as some were getting squashed by putting to much on a shelf. it does mean they now take up more room. I have never really been into the Stones (prefer the Who). I have recently been playing old Beatles albums that my Dad left me before he passed. I had to buy a few remastered to finish their studio albums. I am getting the Pink Floyd Pulse Live Concert boxset for Christmas. it may end up being my best Live album. the video of it is amazing.

Almost every song by the Beatles is unique, a once in a lifetime experience. The Stones, on the other hand, can quite often repeat themselves. Therefore, in terms of songwriting, there is no contest between the two, never has been. By the way, I like the way you are dressed today. Very elegant...

The beatles combed their hair, wore suits, sang sweet love songs and the parents loved them, The stones never combed their hair, wore sweat shirt at the Ed Sullivan show, sang songs with lyrics which the kids ever repeated, their parents wanted to shove a bar of soap in their mouth...Stones did it for me, of course the beatles were a phenomenon, but the stones started a way of life.. Just me and my stones fans thinking... Both are awesome in a way.

Hi Melinda - The Beatles every single time, Stones second - but no one, no one will every match what those four lads from Liverpool achieved. Am a massive Dan Fogelberg fan, and that song you mentioned "same old lang syne" - is just a wonderful song. Meeting an old lover in the grocery store - beautifully written, and you just wonder what kind of a life she actually had. Well I do anyway - Dan was such a loss. The first song I actually heard of Dans, was "Part Of The Plan" off Souvenirs - produced by Graham Nash, and I have been a fan ever since. That's me Melinda, have a great Xmas and New Year. All the best to you and your family. Cya Doug

Great questions. Here are 3 of my answers. 1: Beatles v Rolling Stones. I own some great mono monarchs of Rolling Stones, but the Beatles are my #1 favorite band and I am now trying to get all early UK pressings of them. So it’s no contest for me! 2. Best break up album: This was one really difficult. I have been married for 21 years and I go to music when I’m sad, but in my twenties I went through a really hard breakup and Sarah McLachlan Mirrorball was the album that I would just cry and cry to. 3 Artists that you can’t listen to anymore. Like you, very rarely will I stop listening to someone for opposing political views. I will roll my eyes a lot but I can usually separate art and the person, but when it comes to a crime like Gary Glitter that is a line I can’t get over, so for me it is R. Kelly. One final note…love your shout out to Mike at The In Groove. I’m in Phoenix so I’m lucky to be able to pop in and look through their bins and have found a couple of new jazz artists talking to Mike. I have also spend way too much money. But well worth it!

With only those two choices, I would have to also pick the Beatles, but for me I prefer The Who over both of them. Carrie Underwood does always seem to have a pretty good life, but some people don’t know that she went through a couple of miscarriages while trying to have children, but do admire her for staying strong in her faith and family. She’s stronger and even a better role model for it and I wish her continued success. Thanks again for another awesome video.

I never heard Captain Beefheart, so I won't argue. As for drummers, Neil Peart is killer! Haven't heard enough of him yet, though. My drummer list (for rock anyway) would be Jeff Porcaro, Carl Palmer and Ian Paice, in no particular order. They've been together for so long, released more albums & created so much more memories over the decades with big stadium tours, etc. The Beatles admitted they were a studio band that didn't like touring & they couldn't recreate their "over produced" music live (especially later albums using orchestras) They stopped touring in 1966 after only 3 years as a band. Their shows were on average 40 minutes long. They focused more on selling merchandise. STONES FOREVER .

The Beatles.... John Lennon was confirmed to be very abusive both mentally & physically towards both wives & at least 1 girlfriend. Paul McCartney was & still is an annoying vegan, who preaches to people how they should eat & you're a bad person for eating meat. George Harrison followed a Cult leader & his weird religion of half human & half elephant. Ringo Star just wasn't a good drummer. Period.

One thing I will definitely agree on is Kiss's first album. That album is extremely under rated. For me it's their first and only good album. Pure rock. It would have been interesting to see what they would have produced later on if they hadn't sold out to Pop culture. Although they did become billionaires because of it. The music never benefited from it unfortunately.

A lot of the questions in the survey are really pretty silly if not deplorable! 😲 I don't live in the drug world and never have, but if I found a bag a of pot, I'd listen to Metallica's Master of Puppets song really cranked up, and I'd destroy the pot.💪👊 My head did explode when you mentioned that KISS album. 😲Why you so crazy when it comes to KISS? 🤣 My best sounding new album acquisition of 2024 was the AP/QRP UHQR version of The Doors LA Woman. 😻 A better question would be, "Pink Floyd or The Doors?" I struggle with that question every day. The Beatles and the Stones don't even make my top ten favorite rock bands of all time list. I must agree with you on Neil Peart; he is the best rock drummer of all time. Since he doesn't get enough credit, I must mention Ronnie James Dio as my pick for favorite artist in two or more bands. 😻 I only follow two VC channels, yours and The Pressing Matters. I favor both channels equally. If you don't know Scott Wilson's The Pressing Matters channel, I highly recommend checking his channel out. It's excellent! 👍👍👍

Hello! This is definitely an interesting set of questions. I actually wish the question would have been Pink Floyd or The Doors. I think I would have to choose Pink Floyd but it would be painful. Lol. I'm glad that LA Woman UHQR was a hit with you. I do watch The Pressing Matters from time to time and Scott does an excellent job. ♥️ I can't help myself. Kiss is a childhood favorite for me. Mick was still working on his stage moves at the 1964 TAMI show (Santa Monica Civic). I'm still not sure, lol - or what exactly is being tagged and why! I did enjoy the vid, though - and that is the most impressive home-based Christmas tree I've ever seen. Rock on, Melinda! 🤘 Oh, and I couldn't possibly choose between the Beatles or the Stones. When people ask me what music I like I always start with "Dylan, the Beatles, and the Stones".
