This is the complete list of 25 albums chosen by the editors/staff at AllMusic around the time of Brian Wilson's solorecord. As far as I remember, 'Pet Sounds' were their pick for the number 1 spot. Apart from that, are you sure you were a grunge fan back in the days? Really think maybe you've been hiding from Boney M all these years...?!? Maybe everybody knows that, sorry if I am offensive.

Still loving my ancient Technics SL BD20 from 1993 with a really nice upgraded cart in my bedroom system and a AT LP140 in my main system and couldn't be happier with what I am hearing. I thankfully kept all of my 300 plus records and have bought a few cheap ones including Cheryl Crow's debut for $13.99 on Amazon which sounds amazing. I will not spend stupid money on any hobby personally.

Very right about less expendable income, people say records are “the same compared to inflation” but it’s not. People have less and less money to spend and many are doom spending without any savings or building for retirement. Excellent video as always!

That is my favorite MJ album, it was before he really blew up. I don’t think I could drop that much for a One Step for this album though, just wouldn’t listen to it enough. It was good to hear your thoughts on it, maybe I will find it for a bargain!

It's a problem on some long OOP but quite common cd albums. They just arn't going to sell them unless price is same or less than a new cd issue 🇬🇧

Favorite MJ album! I remember when "Don't Stop" came out. Bought it right away. I also remember hearing in dance clubs cranked through massive sound systems, the bass would shake your spine! Good times. Thanks Melinda for the review.

I generally only buy physical media from lesser known artists that I like, mostly vinyl except for some artists who cannot afford to put out vinyl. I will buy vintage media for larger artists if I can get a good copy at a bargain price. I will occasionally but vinyl for an older established artist who puts own new material.

Adjusted for inflation, records are about the same price as they were in the 80s. They were really cheap for a while when they were becoming very unpopular. Digital music has become very inexpensive and this makes vinyl and even CDs seem expensive. Note that our economic system has been corrupted such that it is screwing over the bottom 50% who have much less discretionary income. New vinyl is out of their price range except for the most die hard vinyl fans.

Hi Melinda, I have to be honest I never even listen to that whole album until a couple of years ago most of the songs were on the radio and MTV and I never bothered. And to be honest when I play the whole thing front to back i just wasn't impressed. And yes for me Off the wall is so much better. If I never hear thriller again it's fine with me and I would never spend that much money for that record but again that's just me 🤔

Love those Three record's by MJ "OTW, Thriller, and Bad"! I heard some say the "1 step" of thriller wasn't great, I wouldn't know! I only have a 1984 repress (which is fantastic) and a "2016 digital sourced one (not so) to go by!😊

Wow I didn't know those versions of that album existed a high end version, that is one of my favorites also what makes this album so good is its a story about anyone's life ,Don't stop til you get enough he's talking about the Force the life Force of creation physical and spiritual how the universe works from the creator......in the beginning of the song he saying "The Force it has a lot of power ooooohhhww! It's like in the starwars movie when Obi-Wan explains to Luke Skywalker what the Force is way out spiritual. The Song I can't help it is explaining how a good person looks themselves in the mirror and found themselves, and found out that they are an Angel a spiritual kind person . But this entire album is extraordinary and to hear the Mofi version especially on a nice HI-FI or high end stereo would be awesome

The best upgrade you could do is get rid of the mofi soeshets. Not upto the rest of yiur sytem. I recall a while back recommending the p8. Great to see you biught it.

Thankyou for sharing your thoughts Melinda. I often cant decide which MJ album i love the most. Being born in 83 i was 8,9 or 10 yrs old before music REALLY grabbed me and hence my affiliation for Bad and Dangerous are very strong. These albums made me love music more than any other form of entertainment and 35 yrs later that hasnt changed. I do like Thriller but its so overplayed and theres cheesy moments that get a little too cheesy, i find it by far the hardest of those first 4 classics to listen too. Off The Wall HAS to be his most consistent work though. While theres no peak Michae momentl on it, because its all 8/9 out of 10 throughout and not an album of 10's with some 6's in the mix the album has this consistency appeal and when you combine that its just a party record with none of his Dangerous era socio commentary stuff you are transported to the coolness of the late 70s Disco's. Its such a vibe!! I cant wait for my Mofi editions inc the SACD!!!

Thanks for posting this, you might actually be the first to weigh in and the lack of chatter about it was concerning me. One question though, when Off the Wall was first released, Rock with You did not have hand claps and they were added in on later releases. Since this is a mastering of the original tapes, are the hand claps there?

I need this and Steely Dan Aja which I never owned either. But, the problem is….. I buy so much new music 🎼 by current artists. And 45s are really popular again. Yes, current artists are releasing 45s again. From Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga Die With a Smile with Bruno Mars and my new favorite song The Sailor Song by Gigi Perez. Such a great song. So, I don’t know if I want to spend this much money 💰 for an oldie. Even though, I sure love ❤️ this album. I’m torn. Maybe when I get back from Europe. I might get my first MoFi record.

I never bought Off The Wall. It’s my favorite MJ album too. I’m surprised I never bought it. I need to find an original copy of it. This is to expensive for me. I’m sure it sounds great. But, I might have to buy this. Because, it’s a great album.

After I watched this, I dug out my copy of the album. I got it a few years ago at Goodwill. I got Off The Wall and Bad both for $1 each. Both are in fantastic shape. I hadn’t listened to it since I got it, but after your video I spun it again. The original album was so well produced that it sounds good as is. I imagine the MoFi kicks it up a notch or two. Rock With You and Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough are just stone cold classics!

That is one expensive record. My favorite track is Get On The Floor by Louis Johnson. His bass playing makes you want to move. And by the way you resemble Kate Hudson.
